Today we’d like to introduce you to Antwon Carter
Hi Antwon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised on the Westside of Winter Park, Florida, my journey began with a miracle. At just two months old, I survived a devastating car accident, shaping a life built on resilience and purpose.
After graduating from Winter Park High School, I struggled with self-doubt and didn’t know what the future looked like. College wasn’t my path, but in 2005, the birth of my daughter became my wake-up call. I started in IT, but when the recession hit, I pivoted to government contracting in 2009. Over the next decade, I worked across Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan, gaining experience in logistics and execution before taking on a new challenge—living and working in the UAE.
By 2019, I knew my purpose was bigger than my career. I began mentoring young men in West Orlando and, in 2021, returned home to establish Men of Integrity Mentoring Program, Inc. Our program empowers young men through core values—Respectable, Accountable, Sustainable (RAS)—and focuses on Financial Literacy, STEM Education, Mental & Physical Health, and Sustainability. We don’t just mentor; we build lifelong bonds, ensuring every mentee is equipped for success.
Mentorship is about leading by example. I’ve since earned my BSBA and MBA in Organizational Leadership, proving that growth never stops. My mission is clear—empower the next generation with the tools, confidence, and brotherhood they need to thrive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Men of Integrity Mentoring Program, Inc. has come with its share of struggles, but every challenge has only reinforced our mission and strengthened our resolve.
One of the biggest hurdles has been securing consistent funding. While our impact is undeniable, finding financial support to sustain and expand our programs has required relentless effort—grant applications, fundraising events, and forming strategic partnerships. Every dollar raised is a step closer to providing more resources, experiences, and opportunities for our mentees.
Another challenge has been shifting mindsets—both within the community and among the young men we serve. Many of them come from environments where trust is hard-earned, and breaking through those walls to show them that we are here for the long run takes time. We don’t just mentor—we build lifelong relationships, staying connected well past graduation, ensuring they always have a support system no matter where life takes them.
Balancing growth with quality mentorship has also been a learning curve. As the program expands, maintaining the same level of personal attention, consistency, and integrity requires building a solid team that shares the same passion and vision. Leadership transitions, policy updates, and ensuring that every mentor upholds our core values—Respectable, Accountable, Sustainable (RAS)—are all part of the process.
Despite these challenges, the mission remains clear: to develop strong, well-rounded men equipped with financial literacy, STEM knowledge, mental and physical wellness, and sustainability skills. Watching young men transform, find their confidence, and succeed in life makes every struggle worth it. The creed we instill in them isn’t just words—it’s a lifestyle, a declaration of brotherhood, and a commitment to self-belief that will carry them through life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in logistics and supply chain leadership, bringing strategic insight and operational expertise to every project I undertake. Beyond my professional accomplishments, I take great pride in serving as a community leader in Central Florida, where I am deeply committed to giving back and making a positive impact. After returning home from overseas, I made it my mission to support and uplift local communities, a journey that remains one of my proudest achievements. I am known for my engaging personality, dedication to personal growth, and strong focus on leadership development. What truly sets me apart is my protagonist approach to leadership—leading by example, inspiring others, and driving meaningful change through integrity, vision, and action.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe that risk-taking is an essential part of growth and success. It’s about stepping outside of your comfort zone and trusting your ability to navigate uncertainty. One of the biggest risks I took was picking up and going to Iraq at a young age as a contractor. At the time, the recession in 2008 had left me with little to no money, and I found myself in survival mode. Faced with limited options, I chose to rely on the best tool I had—my mind. I took on the risk of going into an environment that was completely unknown, understanding the dangers but also recognizing the opportunity to build a future for myself. That experience taught me that calculated risks, even in the most challenging circumstances, can lead to growth, resilience, and new opportunities.
