Meet Brian Bowen of Little Truck Home Inspections

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Bowen.

Hi Brian , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I got out of the Navy, my wife and I moved to Brevard County and bought our first home. We did everything “right” — hired a reputable realtor, paid for a comprehensive home inspection, WDO, wind mitigation — all the boxes were checked. We knew it needed cosmetic updates, but that’s normal for a first home.
What we didn’t expect was that the inspection had missed major issues. After closing, we discovered rusted drain lines leaking into the living room floor, faulty electrical, a failing roof, and an air conditioning system that wasn’t even connected to ductwork. The house was uninhabitable while we made repairs. We bounced between family members’ homes, pouring every dollar we had into making our house livable.
We also learned the hard way that in Florida, homebuyers have very little recourse in situations like ours.
That experience changed everything for me. I decided I never wanted another family to go through what we did. I got licensed and started inspecting homes for friends and their friends — making sure the people closest to us were protected and fully informed before making the biggest investment of their lives.
Today, I inspect every home through the lens of someone who’s been on the wrong end of a bad inspection. I started Little Truck Home Inspections with my little blue vintage truck and a simple mission: to protect my neighbors and make sure they truly know what they’re buying.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Becoming a licensed and insured home inspector in Florida isn’t something you just “decide” to do one day. It requires state-approved education, passing a rigorous exam, background checks, ongoing continuing education, and carrying the proper insurance. I took that responsibility seriously because I know firsthand what’s at stake for families.
Beyond licensing, building a small, family-owned business in an industry dominated by large companies and national franchises comes with its own challenges. I’ve gone toe-to-toe with major production builders who sometimes try to discourage buyers from bringing in their own independent inspector, offering warranties or incentives instead. I believe every buyer deserves unbiased representation — someone whose only loyalty is to them.
We’re not one of the “big guys.” My wife is a teacher, and I work a second job while growing this business. Little Truck Home Inspections is truly a family effort. We’ve built it the hard way — one client at a time — by earning trust and delivering thorough, honest inspections.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Little Truck Home Inspections ?
Little Truck Home Inspections is built on a simple but powerful principle: look out for others the way you’d want someone to look out for you. Our values are rooted in 1 Corinthians 10:24 — seeking the good of others above ourselves — and that mindset shapes every inspection we perform.
Our name and logo come from my 1949 vintage pickup truck, a symbol of timeless quality and honest workmanship. That truck represents the kind of service we believe in — dependable, straightforward, and built to last. In an industry that can sometimes feel rushed or transactional, we’re intentional about slowing down and doing things the right way.
As a small, family-owned business, we’re able to keep our pricing competitive and customize each inspection to the client’s specific needs. No two homes — or buyers — are the same. We take time to thoroughly evaluate the property, clearly explain our findings, and ensure our clients feel confident and informed before making one of the biggest investments of their lives.
When you hire Little Truck Home Inspections, you work directly with me. I personally inspect every home (in the 1949 if I can). There’s no handoff to an employee or rotating staff member. My name and reputation are attached to every report we deliver, and that accountability matters.
We’re not focused on being the biggest company in the area — we’re focused on being the most trusted. At the end of the day, we’re proud to serve families in our community with integrity, transparency, and the kind of care that never goes out of style.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories takes place in the small town of Ludlow, Vermont, where I spent time with extended family. A neighbor owned an old green pickup truck used for logging and plowing — worn, dependable, and full of character. When it went up for sale during my early teens, my dad and I bought it and drove it all the way back to Florida.
We quickly learned the brakes were shot, along with many other thibgs from years of abuse, which meant long hours in the garage rebuilding it together. We replaced parts, repainted it, and brought it back to life piece by piece.
That truck taught me that quality takes time and that anything worth having is worth doing right. I drove it for years, and it became part of who I was. Looking back, I see how those lessons shaped not only my appreciation for craftsmanship but also the values behind Little Truck Home Inspections — timeless quality, patience, and pride in honest work.
