Today we’d like to introduce you to Brissa Behrens.
Brissa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my tattoo journey ten years ago when I was 15 years old. My mother bought me a cheap tattoo kit that consisted of just the basics and I began practicing on anyone who would let me. A few years into being what professionals would call a “scratcher,” I was offered an apprenticeship at a tattoo shop local to me, Subculturez. I was an apprentice there for one year and then they cut me loose. I worked there for about five years before making the jump two years ago to come to Orlando and work at War Kings Tattoo. I went from working in my house to being booked out five days a week for 7-8 months at a time. I look at my work from back then and can’t believe the progress I’ve made. It’s unreal.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was certainly disliked by the local tattooers in my town. It took years for me to rid the reputation of being a home tattooer or a scratcher. Another challenge I think was being a woman. The tattoo industry is still a male dominant industry and I have fought hard to make sure my work can stand up to par.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a neotraditional color tattoo artist. I specialize in bold, fat lines and solid saturation with my color. I am also known for my DIY renovations. I have renovated my entire home over the past two years. I party plan. I bake. I put out a coloring book last year. I sell shirts and stickers. You name it and I do it!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say ambition. I am never pleased, I always want more. I’m always striving to be better than I was before. I’m always working toward a new goal. I never rest! Rest is for the weary.

I have several tattoos by Brissa, although I do not know her personally she is amazing, her work is amazing, her professionalism is amazing! I happily drive 2 hours every time I have an appointment because she makes me feel comfortable & I trust her work. (Plus she buys her clients lunch if your there for a while..lol) I will continue to watch her succeed with everything she sets out to do.
