Meet Brittany Thompson of MVP Outsourcing, Corp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Thompson.

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business out of necessity — I was laid off from an orthodontics office and, like a lot of people, I turned to virtual assistant work to make ends meet. But I quickly realized I wasn’t built to stay behind the scenes checking boxes. I kept noticing that many of the CEOs I supported didn’t have foundational systems or strategic infrastructure in place. They weren’t just disorganized — they were building their businesses on shaky ground.

That realization shifted everything. I moved from virtual assistant to executive assistant, then to online business management, and eventually into Fractional COO work. I didn’t just want to help CEOs stay afloat — I wanted to help them scale sustainably with backend systems that could hold the weight of their vision.

Now, I run MVP Outsourcing Corp, soon rebranding to The Silent COO. We support business owners—especially women and founders of color—with operations consulting, executive support, and systems that drive real, scalable results. Whether I’m building an internal ops department from scratch or helping founders restructure their team and product suite for growth, I’m deeply invested in making sure what’s happening behind the scenes matches the big goals up front.

This work is personal to me. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re figuring it out alone. That’s why I’ve built an agency that not only delivers results—but actually feels like support.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road — and honestly, I wouldn’t trust anyone who says theirs was. My journey has been filled with growth moments disguised as roadblocks.

One of the biggest challenges early on was realizing that I couldn’t keep doing everything myself. I built my business out of survival, so I had this “I’ll just do it” mindset that worked—until it didn’t. Delegating, hiring, and building a team while trying to keep clients happy was a crash course in leadership, boundaries, and self-worth. I had to learn that being the brains of the operation doesn’t mean you have to be the entire body too.

There were also moments where I doubted whether people would take me seriously as a strategic leader, especially as a Black woman in the online business space. I wasn’t just fighting for a seat at the table—I was building my own table, and that came with its own kind of pressure.

Cash flow, burnout, inconsistent clients, team turnover—I’ve faced it all. But every struggle pushed me to sharpen my systems, rethink my boundaries, and show up smarter. The messy middle taught me how to create operational solutions that actually work in the real world, not just in theory. That’s what makes my work today so powerful—I’ve lived the chaos I now help others clean up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is called MVP Outsourcing Corp — soon to be rebranded as The Silent COO. We’re an operations consulting agency that supports service-based businesses with Fractional COO services, Online Business Management, and Executive Assistant support. But what we really do is build the infrastructure behind growing empires.

We specialize in helping overwhelmed CEOs and founders get their backend operations in order so they can scale without chaos. Our clients come to us when they’ve hit a ceiling — when what used to work no longer does, and they need strategy, structure, and support that doesn’t just sound good in theory but works in real life. We’re known for our deep expertise in operations, our no-fluff approach to systems, and our ability to step in, get our hands dirty, and lead like we’ve been part of the team for years.

What sets us apart is that we don’t offer cookie-cutter solutions. We treat each business like a living ecosystem. We dive deep to understand how everything is connected — from client experience to team workflows, financials to marketing — and then we optimize it all for sustainability, scalability, and sanity. Every system we build has a purpose. Every team we structure has a plan. And every process we implement is designed to make the CEO’s life easier, not more complicated.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the fact that we’ve built something that blends high-level strategy with deeply human support. Our clients don’t just feel seen — they feel safe handing over the reins. And that’s not something I take lightly.

For anyone reading: if you’re running a business that’s growing fast but starting to feel messy behind the scenes — or if you’re tired of being the only one who knows how things run — we’re the team that helps you reclaim your time, scale your systems, and operate like a real CEO.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk is a requirement, not a choice, when you’re building something bigger than yourself. I’ve taken risks that didn’t always make sense on paper, but they made sense for the version of me I was becoming. That’s how I approach risk — not just from the perspective of ROI, but from alignment. Does this move bring me closer to the business and life I want to create? If yes, I’ll take the leap — even if I’m scared.

One of the biggest risks I took was transitioning from being a solopreneur to building a real agency. Hiring a team, taking on more overhead, and stepping fully into a leadership role felt risky at the time. I had to trust that I could train people, manage quality, and still deliver the high-level excellence I was known for — but I also knew staying small would keep me stuck. That decision opened the door to greater impact and allowed me to scale in a way that was impossible alone.

Another risk was rebranding to The Silent COO and shifting my business model to reflect the deeper work I was truly doing. That required shedding a lot of the “safe” language and stepping into a brand identity that feels more aligned, even if it pushes against traditional norms in the online space.

At the end of the day, I don’t think risk ever really goes away — it just changes shape. But what I’ve learned is: the bigger the risk, the more powerful the growth. And if you’re going to bet on something, bet on your ability to figure it out.
