Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassis Snipper.
Hi Cassis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Growing up, my family and I had a deep reverence for TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). My mother is from Vietnam and my father, New York. We went to our family acupuncturist for every ailment — a common cold, sprained ankle, a painful neck after a car accident, stress, cardiovascular issues, Erb’s palsy, and the list goes on. Our acupuncturist was always our primary care physician, and I witnessed many people in my life, including myself, heal from the artistry of TCM.
I am a licensed Acupuncturist Physician, Chinese Herbalist, and Doctor of Chinese Medicine (L.Ac, D.C.M, Dipl. OM). The art of healing has long been a part of my practice — before becoming a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I received a degree in Physical Therapy after completing the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Herzing University. I then worked as a licensed physical therapy assistant, specializing in pediatric neurology, serving as their advocate to help them survive and thrive.
Carrying that passion with me into the next step of my career, I traveled extensively to further my knowledge of healing and bodywork. While in Ecuador, I completed 400 hours of Kaula tantric yoga teacher training, immersing myself in shamanism, performance arts, and Kaula tantra yoga, practicing closely with cultivating healing sexual and sensual energy to make every day and every moment a tantric practice. After an enlightening Usui Reiki training course in Northern Thailand, I found my calling to study Traditional Chinese Medicine.
From there, I attended the Florida College of Integrative Medicine Orlando, where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Health Studies and a Master of Science Degree in Oriental Medicine. During that time, I gained hundreds of hours of invaluable clinical experience. I also interned with a passionate TCM family doctor in Orlando for over a year, garnering extensive clinical experience by treating pediatric disorders, pain, post-surgery, and chemo patients, as well as difficult cases that Western doctors could not help with.
I am passionate about treating psycho-emotional disorders like depression and anxiety, acute and chronic pain, women’s health, post-trauma (i.e., sexual trauma), scar therapy, and post-stroke recovery, among many other conditions.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a fairly smooth road, however not one without difficulties or challenges. It has always felt organic and right in my body to pursue this path. TCM school itself was quite difficult. The intensity of the course load, clinical hours, and having to pass four licensure state board exams was very taxing on my body, mind, and spirit. Moreover, balancing my relationship with myself, family, and friends was strenuous. Nonetheless, I feel stronger for the experience and any tribulations that occurred during that time are why I feel so fulfilled now.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Komorebi Center for Healing?
Komorebi is what healing can feel like — a physical manifestation of bodywork illuminating every part of us. Much like ourselves, a tree is beautiful as is. But when we allow the sun to penetrate our bodies, our darkest spaces become light. By casting Komorebi through all the positive and negative spaces within us, we can begin to heal.
Here at Komorebi Center for Healing, we’re committed to helping you come home to yourself through the practices of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Our diverse offerings connect ancient knowledge with a deep understanding of what we need spiritually and physiologically as humans in today’s busy world. Treatments at Komorebi are not one-size-fits-all but are mindfully curated with you in mind.
My passion is to help patients come back home, into their own bodies. Into their truth. Into their balance. Into a safe place of deserving happiness, self-love, eternal confidence, and freedom.
We do this with an eclectic blend of healing modalities that was taught to me by teachers from all over the world. Some modalities include acupuncture, Chinese herbal formulas, vitamins and supplements, breath work and movement practices, gua sha (scraping), fire cupping, bloodletting, tui na (Chinese massage), Reiki, and medical qi gong.
What was you like growing up?
I was an adventurous child with a free spirit. My family lived all over the world, which enabled me to travel throughout my life. With that, I was able to learn and experience many different cultures, terrains, customs, and cuisines. I come from a family of artists, thus why I have many artistic hobbies, like painting, soldering, drawing, etc. I loved movement practices and sports. I practiced Tae Kwon Do for many years, receiving my black belt at the ripe age of 13. I played many other sports following afterward. I found yoga at around 18 years old, along with connecting to my Buddhist roots.
