Today we’d like to introduce you to Catharine Warren.
Hi Catharine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I became interested and involved in fitness when I started working part-time for a local gym approximately five years ago. During my tenure at said gym, I conducted exercise classes ranging from strength exercises to high-intensity training for all age groups and genders. As my experience and passion evolved, I became inspired to branched out and start my very own business, which gave birth to SoulFit and launch this enterprise three years ago. The first two years of SoulFit consisted exclusively of Outdoor Bootcamp several times per week, which led to enhancing my sessions by offering nutrition. For example, attendees had the option to obtain a pre-workout beverage or post-workout smoothie. These nutritious products are designed to provide fuel prior to Bootcamp while replenishing the energy and electrolytes metabolized during the physical demands of Outdoor Bootcamp.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In an effort to truly succeed, one must experience hardships, challenges, and ultimately failure in the chosen journey. For example, the inaugural day of Bootcamp yielded a total of three participants, including my mother, who was there to support my new endeavor. This was followed by repeated low attendance until I decided to exit my comfort zone to utilize the tools and resources at my disposal. Consequently, with a renewed focus, consistency, and not bending to what appeared to be an insurmountable battle, I was able to emerge victorious, as evident by a persistent and continuously growing cohort of Bootcamp members. This has been made possible by increasing the number of days, per cohort’s request, from two to three, and sometimes four per week, including alternate Saturdays. Additionally, the pre-workout beverages, smoothies, and protein donuts have also seen an increased demand.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2015 with a BS in Psychology and have been subsequently employed by OCPS, where I work in the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Program as a Program Assistant. In 2019, following my first year at a new OCPS institution, I received the Support Person of The Year award, which acknowledged my unwavering commitment, unblemished standing as an OCPS employee, and steadfast dedication to the pupils in my charge. As an ESE Program Assistant, I enjoy teaching and observing my students master the challenges they confront on a daily basis while creating positive relationships with them.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey is to never relinquish your dream, no matter how many trials and tribulations one faces.
