Meet Chiriga Ofori of Kinbridge at Oviedo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiriga Ofori.

Hi Chiriga, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been someone who led with care, even when the path forward wasn’t always clear. I earned my degree in Business Management from UCF and started my career in corporate and nonprofit roles – first in insurance, then as an Executive Director at the YMCA. But truthfully, I never felt like I fit into those traditional molds. In 2008, I was laid off, and while that felt like a setback at the time, it ended up being the push I needed. I went back to school, became a nurse, and finally stepped into work that felt aligned with who I was and how I wanted to serve. Over the years, that calling grew. I wasn’t just showing up to care for patients – I was creating systems, programs, and homes where people could feel seen, safe, and supported. That drive eventually led me to launch my own organization focused on care for medically complex individuals. Today, I bring that same heart and experience into my role as CEO of Kinbridge at Oviedo, a first-of-its-kind intergenerational assisted living community and I’m so happy to help others reimagine how care is delivered.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! I’ve made mistakes, been humbled, and stretched in more ways than I could count. One of my early lessons came when I took on a group of residents aging out of pediatric care. I said yes quickly, thinking, “How hard can it be to staff nurses?” Well, my first hire showed up in pajamas, and that was just the beginning. I realized quickly how much structure, training, and clarity were needed to build something sustainable.
Beyond logistics, one of the hardest shifts was going from people-pleasing to policy. I care deeply about my team, but early on I learned that you can’t lead effectively without boundaries. When I started implementing policies and holding folks accountable, not everyone stayed. But the foundation I was building required structure. I had to get comfortable making decisions that were right, even if they weren’t popular. That’s still one of the toughest parts of leadership: knowing when to prioritize long-term vision over short-term comfort.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kinbridge at Oviedo?
Kinbridge at Oviedo is part of the Kinbridge Living network, and it’s something I’m deeply proud of. We’re building a new kind of assisted living – one that brings generations together under the same roof. It’s not just about housing or care; it’s about community, connection, and purpose. For example, it’s a place where 80-year-old Sally teaches her 22-year-old housemate, Jamie, how to cook a cherished family recipe, while Jamie teaches Sally how to use FaceTime to stay in touch with loved ones. That’s the kind of everyday compassion we see here.
We specialize in care for adults with complex medical or behavioral needs, and we do it with a trauma-informed approach. What sets us apart is the culture we’ve built: rooted in compassion, backed by structure. I want people to know that this model works. It honors dignity. It builds trust. And it’s reshaping how we think about aging, independence, and support, one household at a time.
