Meet Christopher Syncere of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Syncere

Hi Christopher, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is pretty complex. I come from a divorced home. My mom was young and left to raise 2 children, as my father left my family when I was around 4 years old. Growing up without the guidance of a man, I found myself being raised by celebrities and pop culture. Artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West, and WWE wrestlers like Jeff Hardy and John Cena were my biggest inspirations. Good or bad, the examples the culture gave of manhood is what shaped how I viewed myself, and treated others. I’m not really sure how I ended up where I am today. No dad, didn’t do the best in school, living on government assistance… All of the statistics say that I should be dead, in jail, or simply a product of the environment I grew up in. Instead, I’m a married man, who is successful in his business, and gets to travel the country doing what he loves. As far as music, I’ve always been a fan of music. My mom played everything growing up. From Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, and Avril Lavigne to Luther Vandross and Janet Jackson, to Lil Wayne and 50 Cent. I loved it all, and with Hip Hop in particular, I saw a piece of myself in it. Growing up watching Disney Channel, however, I also saw myself in movies like High School Musical and Camp Rock. So when it came to early songs that I attempted to write once middle school came around, I blended all of that. I’ve always been myself in my music. I just feel like that’s what’s real. I don’t want to be or even portray myself as somebody that I’m not.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all! I’m 25 now. I started releasing music when I was 17 years old. I got my first job at Wendy’s because I wanted money to pay for studio time and video/photoshoots. I would walk 2 miles to get to work, get home around 11pm, then go to school the next day. The hard work was always built in me watching the example of my family. Everyone is a hard worker in my family. I’ve had jobs that I hated, and never wanted to do for the rest of my life. But they helped fund my dreams.
As a Christian Hip Hop artist, I remember emailing every church I could find in Florida just trying to set up my first tour, I offered to play every show for free as long as they let me sell merch. I printed up $600 of merch and went into debt doing so, as I have a box of merch that didn’t sell (and is still sitting in my mom’s garage to this day 6 years later). I didn’t have a car. My phone bill wasn’t paid and had no service, so I had to give my mom’s phone number when planning the tour. I was 18 years old, and had no plan to go to college or do anything else other than music.
I’ve never had any sort of major label push, I don’t have any cosigns from any big artists in my subgenre of Christian Hip Hop. I’ve never had any major opportunities. I’ve just built a platform with my friends by being authentic and consistent. I now have 200k monthly listeners on Spotify, and have fans across the world. Going into 2025, I plan to continue to build the platform for the sake of telling people about God, while putting out music that is authentic and challenging to those listening to it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Christian Hip Hop artist based here in Orlando, FL. I’ve been doing music professionally going on 4 years here. I make music that is not like your typical Christian Hip Hop. I don’t want to constantly sing a song of “God is good! God is great!” I know that there are others out there that are just like me; Not the super religious rule following Christians, but still have a love for God. I also know that there are others out there like me in that they’re Christians who go through real life struggles. I’ve spent the past 2 and a half years deconstructing my faith; picking a part what I’ve been taught and philosophies that I’ve constructed that are completely based on a misconstrued idea of who God really is. (Anyways, I’ll get off of my soapbox lol). I make music that reaches the person who just wants to love God and love others without all of the extra fluff. And I make music for even the non Christian that may not believe in God, but still enjoys good music that has a positive message to it. I’m most proud of the fact that I can lay my head down at night and know that I’m not building a brand on something that is fake. I’m not acting. The way you attain something is the way you have to keep something. I am proud of the fact that I’ve built something on who I really am.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Pizza @ Lake Eola! Haha that’s my favorite spot to eat in Orlando. I get a custom pizza with pineapples, mushrooms, and spinach! Can’t beat it. Other than that, I love the people in Orlando. As somebody that has been in about 20 different states in the past 2 years with music, I can say that Orlando has the best people in the world. I love how genuine everyone is. I love Universal and Disney! I gotta say what I like the least is probably the price of houses! My wife and I have been looking to buy a home, and everything is just so darn expensive!
