Meet Cibelle Costa Barbosa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cibelle Costa Barbosa.

Hi Cibelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, spending my childhood in Campo Grande in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. I’m married, a mother of three kids, an architect, and an interior designer. Art has always been part of my life! Since childhood, I used to express myself through freehand drawings, classical ballet, and music playing piano, since the age of 5. That’s why the choice of Architecture as a profession was so natural.

At 16, I started my degree course in Architecture at the University PUC in Campinas, in the state of Sao Paulo, and finished my studies in the city of Franca, also in the state of Sao Paulo, where I graduated as an architect and urbanist at the University of Franca. I have a Master’s in Theory and Practice of Architectural Design from the University of Franca and a Master in Management Business Administration specializing in Project Management from FGV Getulio Vargas Foundation in Ribeirao Preto in the state of Sao Paulo.

I have a passion for studies in philosophy, quantum physics, psychology, alternative therapies, and self-knowledge. I like experiencing different cultures around the world, and I have visited about 30 countries. In my free time, I like to be in contact with nature, meditate, practice yoga, sing, play piano, read, and be with family and friends.

I’ve been working for 27 years as an architect and interior designer leading a team of design and managing constructions, working on residences, hospitals, and commercial buildings. I have a large portfolio that consists of constructions that have received national and international awards and recognition, some of which were recently awarded by the International Design Academy in Milan, Italy, the birthplace of world design.

In 2019, I moved to Orlando, USA, where I started a new professional phase working at excellent design companies as an architectural designer and interior designer. This was a perfect beginning that culminated in the opening of my own company, Arqtop Design Studio. Currently, I’ve been working on residential design and contemporary vacation homes, delivering to our clients unique, creative, daring, and exclusive projects, with high quality and excellence.

I consider designing as a fulfilling mission in my life, developing a concept of “Affective Design”, where I bring to the space much more than only beauty, but also experiences of affection, welcome, balance, harmony, security, identity, and originality.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our lives are full of challenges. My current challenge is being on the path of an Architecture License in Florida. It will open a lot of doors to act in the Design field. So, studying for the A.R.E. is part of my daily activities.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been working for 27 years in the Architecture and Interior Design field, which is a great difference in my work. Starting the project with the schematic design concept, going through design development and, then, interior design, defining furniture, lighting fixtures, and decoration. I have a large portfolio of projects built, including residences, offices, medical clinics, shops, hospitals, and commercial buildings, being highly praised and recognized as being bold projects.

I’m very grateful for earning three international awards in 2020 and 2021 from “A´ Design Award & Competition” by the International Design Academy in Milan, Italy, in the “Architecture, Building and Structure Design” and “Interior Space and Exhibition Design” categories. My differential is understanding, hearing, and feeling the clients’ needs and bringing all the wishes and dreams to the projects, considering every single detail and bringing them to reality.
