Hi Claudia Matos, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Pursuing a career in a helping profession has always been my aspiration. This became clear at the start of my college journey, and I dedicated much of my time at UCF (Go Knights!) to researching this path. I chose to advance my education in social work due to its strong focus on a client-centered approach to assist clients with their mental health challenges effectively. It is crucial to consider all aspects of their situation, and social work grants me the ability to do so. It is a belief I continue to utilize now in my private practice when I work with clients.

Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
The journey hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Each obstacle and unexpected challenge has taught me essential lessons I didn’t even realize I needed. From being the first in my family to attend college and navigating its complexities to the trials of starting my own small business, these experiences have shaped my path.

Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your business.
Renew Therapy was founded to create a sanctuary where clients can feel secure. The couch in my office—or the virtual space—is meant to be where clients can relax, take a deep breath, and feel genuinely heard. I specialize in helping anxious people-pleasing individuals accustomed to pleasing others and finding it challenging to prioritize their needs, a journey I’m familiar with. Additionally, I love helping couples enhance their emotional bond or navigate difficult times. My clients must understand that our sessions involve genuine conversations filled with everyday language and laughter. While I am your therapist, I am also your supporter through your journey.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Orlando! It’s undeniable we have the best food scene! Orlando is a melting pot of diverse cultures, which is beautiful! And as someone who loves the water, we are a short drive to the best springs and beaches. Most people will agree when I say this, but I strongly dislike I-4!
