Today we’d like to introduce you to Coco Benji.
Hi Coco, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It’s your girl Coco better known as CoCoBenji. I’m from Miami, Fl, but I was raised between both Miami and Orlando, Fl. I became an artist at the age of 19, shortly after moving to Atlanta, Ga in 2017. Growing up, I always wanted to be a professional backup dancer for celebrities like Missy Elliot, Ciara, and Usher, just to name a few. I was originally known as a dancer in the city of Orlando so being that I already had a name for myself, building support as an artist was very easy for me. I live to entertain, performing is the best part for me. I make my own rules in this field, it’s my own vision in my hands, and I love it here. I dream to be ICONIC. I want to really fulfill my purpose and make a major change in not only my family’s life but others in need as well I want to touch a lot of people through my music and never limit myself. I’m a free spirit, very open, and versatile. I have so much packed in my little head I can’t wait to share more of my creativity with the world. Until then, my latest project CoCoBenji “Da Underdog,” is available on all streaming platforms. – xoxo
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This industry definitely is going to take you for a ride. Being an independent artist is not for the weak mentally, physically, nor financially. You have to push yourself to your fullest potential every day. I’ve made many mistakes that needed to be made in order to have the wisdom I have today as an artist. Not everyone is going to see your vision, but I use that as a piece of motivation because I know they’ll see it as vividly as I do soon enough.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I entertain, right now, it’s normally me and my 2 backup dancers, but I plan to expand and go much bigger as my performances grow. I stand out because I always give energy and take the time to really perfect choreography with my girls. I care a lot about my image and how we look as a whole, one of my favorite saying is “you have to look the part to be the part,” so I stand by that. We coordinate for our shows and move in sync. It’s very important to me to always be a rememberable act. I’m most proud of never giving up never losing my faith.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about my city honestly, is my comfortability. I feel at home, I know someone everywhere I go, and I have a great time anywhere; it’s kind of a feeling I can’t explain. What I dislike is lack of unity; I push unity a lot, especially between women, because we’re often forced against each other.
