Meet Danielle Cribb of Winter Garden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Cribb.

Hi Danielle , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always been a sweets lover since as far back as I can remember. I knew I wanted to work in some sort of hospitality/culinary field, especially pastry. I have been working in hospitality since I was 15 years old. I received my A.S degree in Baking and Pastry and my Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from UCF’s Rosen school of Hospitality. During my time at UCF, I worked at a former cake company in the central Florida area where I learned and grew at the cake decorating craft. I absolutely fell in love with everything cake and not to mention, I was good at it! A few years down the road is when I decided to open up my own cake company known as Sugar Sugar Cake Boutique. Well, here we are 9 years later!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. I started my company in 2016, but didn’t really hit the ground running until early 2017. We all know what happened a few short years later….. Covid. I am so grateful my company survived through that crazy 2020 year. It was scary for sure, but with determination, I believe I can overcome anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create cakes for any type of occasion, mainly weddings. I specialize in buttercream! I mean, who doesn’t like buttercream? My buttercream technique leaves the cake looking smooth like fondant. However, you aren’t paying the cost for fondant and the cake tastes way better 🙂

I am most proud of all of the awards I have won over the years. From Best of weddings with The Knot and Orlando Magazine to vendors choice awards. I am full of gratitude for sure.

I am also proud of having the once in a lifetime chance to compete for money on the Netflix show, Sugar Rush Christmas. I received a call from LA one day from a producer who found my Instagram. They wanted to set up a zoom call interview where they casted me from there. It was a quick 3 days in California filming the show, but was such an amazing experience!

I believe what sets me apart from others is my boutique vibe. I am the definition of a small company- it is just me! I really enjoy having an intimate feel to everything I do with my business. A lot of my customers have become friends and returning clientele. It keeps me humble and I cherish that.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice is stay true to yourself and what you believe in. Be authentic to your core. This is what I do, and my company has thrived because of it.
