Meet Danilo Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danilo Silva.

Hi Danilo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, my name is Danilo Silva. I’m from Brazil, but I live here in the USA for 2 years now. I have been an English Teacher for 18 years now. I learned English after I moved to the UK back in 1997 when I was 13 years old. I finished high school there and after I went on to do Leisure in Tourism in college. Life took me back to Brazil and right at my return I got to work as an English teacher in a local Languages school. I fell in love with my job, I’ve always known that I had to work with something I had to share knowledge with people. Since then I’ve had different jobs but I always keep coming back to teaching. When I arrived in the US, I knew I had to help my community somehow. That’s when a friend suggested if I’d give her some english classes. After recommending me to a few people, the number just grew and grew from the beginning of last year to the time present I’ve had more than 20 Brazilian students living in the US learning English with my classes online.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not, I guess the struggles sometimes are just insecurities and some uncertainties that show up along the way. I try my best to be optimistic and take one day at a time. My fight every day is to make sure my students learn in the best possible way and that they have results at the end of the day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an ESL teacher. I specialize in teaching English to Brazilian students at the moment but would like to help other nationalities to speak English. What I’m most proud of is the list of students I have at the moment and that they believe in my work. At English Blueprint it’s not about just learning a language, it’s about being you, speaking English using your personality, learning in your own time and not having to rush into it, and later getting frustrated because you can’t express yourself. All my classes are 100% online, so there are no recordings or boring readings you have to do. I personalize all my student’s classes, according to their needs, likes and personality.

What matters most to you? Why?
To me what matters the most is to see my students expressing themselves, getting new opportunities, to see how they grow and become talkers instead of people being afraid of talking.
