Today we’d like to introduce you to David Posey.
Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Construction is a rite of passage in my family. My father has been in the construction industry his entire life, so I feel that it was only customary that I follow suit. I was attending college to pursue a law degree as well as working full-time in construction. I then decided that my love for construction was far greater and I decided to leave behind college & pursue a construction career full-time. In late 1999, I was 19-20 years old we saved up $10,000.00 to start our own company. It was initially named Posey Builders Construction Inc. By 2003-2004, we were one of the largest structural framing companies in the industry with over 130 employees. Then in 2006, we decided to scale back from the framing industry & obtain my Florida Building Contractors License. We started Posey Contracting Group LLC at that time. With a vision of being the premier building company in Central Florida. Since then, we have been building & renovating throughout the central Florida area. We built or renovated numerous celebrities, athletes, various companies, & everyday people’s homes & businesses. We produce some of the finest craftsmanship & detailed finishes in the industry. We do all phases under one roof, from the design to the build. We take tremendous pride in managing our client’s expectations & providing them with a building experience like no other. We are truly passionate about our industry. We are constantly chasing perfection.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
In 2007 the economy took a severe hit in all financial sectors. At that time, we had to scale back drastically. We were forced to restructure our company & unfortunately lay off a decent amount of our workforce. This was a challenging time for the entire industry and country for the most part. We were very fortunate to be able to have projects & clients during this span. Many companies in the industry went out of business due to the financial markets collapsing. We weathered the storm & felt it made us stronger as a whole. Overcoming that time better prepared us to handle the tough Covid -19 shutdowns. This gave us a point of reference on previous dire economic downturns. Those two situations were by far our most challenging to overcome to date.
We’ve been impressed with Posey Contracting Group LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We at Posey Contracting Group LLC are one of the best custom-building contractors in the industry, bar none. We custom design & build every project in-house. We are also one of the very few contracting firms with our own employees to help keep our projects on schedule & time. Most contracting companies only subcontract their work (which can be very difficult to manage at times). Most of our staff have been with us for a very long time. We have one employee who has been with us for over 20 years! We treat each project as if it’s our very own. We are always available to clients & oversee all our projects ourselves. We don’t sell a job & disappear like so many others. Our work has been featured throughout the industry on various fronts. We have an extensive client list that stays in constant communication with us for their building or design needs. We are genuinely passionate in the pursuit of building excellence.
What do you think about happiness?
I truly enjoy meeting with our clients & discussing their ideas, visions, & dreams. I love seeing the expressions on their faces once we turn their dreams into reality. The determination to be the very best in the building industry is what motivates & drives us. I don’t believe in 2nd place or participation trophies. This industry is my life. I have poured everything I have into it. I love my profession & look forward to all the challenges & rewards it has to offer. I love being told that something can’t be done or is impossible. That’s when I roll up my sleeves & perform at my best.
