Meet Demis Elias Rodriguez of Be Social Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demis Elias Rodriguez.

Hi Demis, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began 6 years ago when I moved to Central Florida from Puerto Rico right after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant. I started working at Burlington Coat Factory in Lakeland without speaking fluent English. Although, I was able to understand the language I was unable able to speak fluently with my coworkers and customers, so that was my first challenge. I began taking online English classes to improve my pronunciation and to be able to communicate at work. Those months were very challenging. I would often cry due to my frustration with the language barrier and because I felt alone in this new place with all my family in Puerto Rico. During that time my husband was a great support in those moments of frustration and he helped me to improve my English. After a few months of working at the store, I decided to work in my field of Speech Therapy. In 2018 I began working in a Therapy clinic that had a Facebook page however, the owner was overwhelmed with the business responsibilities and was unable to manage their social media platforms. Therefore, I offered to assist her in posting pictures and writing relevant captions geared to educating parents about Speech Therapy on her business page. At that time, I was unaware that managing social media platforms was a paid service and that a strategy should be applied in order to grow in social media. I began by posting pictures of daily therapy activities and elaborating on what areas of child development were being targeted. I began searching for apps to improve my posts and content and people noticed the changes in the therapy clinic’s Facebook page. During my research to improve my content, I discovered an online school to become a Social Media Manager and decided to invest in the program. From there, I started managing the Facebook and Instagram pages of 3 other therapy clinics. Over the past two years, my business has grown and caught the attention of new clients throughout the United States mostly in New York, Connecticut, Florida, and Puerto Rico. During the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to expand social media services to include the restaurant business. I was inspired by my husband who bought into a burger franchise in Haines City, Florida.

I hope my story inspires Hispanic people who could face the same challenges that I overcame when I moved to Florida.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest challenges was the language barrier when I moved from Naranjito, Puerto Rico to Lakeland, Florida 6 years ago. I felt frustrated and alone when moving to a new place without my immediate family and friends. During stressful times, I felt lost and almost regretted moving to Florida. Luckily, with the support and encouragement from my husband and my mother on facetime, I was able to persevere and achieve the goals I established for myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of Be Social Network. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I help business owners to manage their social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram. I specialize in managing the platforms of services like therapy, schools, and medical offices. Recently I started working on managing restaurant’s social media. I also provide consultation and training to determine and establish specific content for your business and save you time.

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is being able to be creative and being able to offer a service where I can take the burden of business owners who want to have social media presence, however, do not have enough time to create a strategy and their posts for their platforms.
