Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennisse Ferron.
Hi Dennisse, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well first and foremost I am a mother and a very proud one! I have two boys ages 12 and 7, my youngest has autism and my oldest has ADHD so it’s never a boring day in my house. I’m a two time business owner and full time employee at a large insurance company. Since high school I’ve always been a hard worker and dedicated with any job I’ve had but I’ve always had this “I want to be my own boss too” mentality as well. I started my first job at the age of 15 and by 18 I was working two jobs all while being a senior in high school. After having my first son at the age of 22 I knew I wanted more as a single mother so I started my first business at the age of 25 selling accessories (costume jewelry) to family and friends and things just took off from there. Because of my work ethic and the type of jobs I held (mainly call center sales and customer service) it helped mold me into the businesswoman I am today and for that I am grateful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been an easy road at all. But with anything that you want in life you stick it out and roll with the punches. I’ve been homeless, I’ve lived at the Salvation Army womens shelter in Winter Haven for 4 months back in 2011. I’ve been carless because I had no license to get a vehicle in my name, at one point I had a one-year-old and we literally walked everywhere. I would walk him to school which was about a mile from where we lived and then walk another 4 miles to work 5-6 times a week. Determined to make ends meet and also pay bills, I had to do what I needed to do to get where I wanted to be. I always tell people when you are not happy with where you are what are you going to do to get to where you want to be. It’s ok sometimes to be knocked down but it’s not about being knocked down, it’s how long you stay down and how fast you get back up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In addition to being a full-time employee, I also own two businesses. I don’t sell or offer any services I would utilize myself. I take in pride in provisisng good customer service and an overall exceptional experience.
I am the owner of ACD 360 Experience which is a photo booth company servicing the Central Florida area that specializes in 360 video booths, traditional selfie booths, and roaming photo booths. We provide services for all type of events from birthday parties, corporate events, school functions, weddings, engagement parties, baby showers basically any event.
My other business Shaded By D was founded in 2016, its is an online retail boutique that specializes in fashionable eyewear (sunglasses) and clothing for women from sizes small through 3x. My goal is to finally open a storefront by the end of 2023 in my hometown of Clermont, FL.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m definitely a risk-taker however, for the most part anything that I have done as far as risk-taking activities has always either even itself out or worked out in my best interest. However, I will say the only major risk that I have taken was investing into the business of someone else that failed. But I always like to look at things with a “you won’t know unless you try it” attitude besides sometimes the risk is worth the reward.
