Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nat Jeffreys.
Hi Dr. Nat, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had yet to learn what chiropractic was after graduating from UCF premed. While contemplating my career path, I realized I no longer desired to pursue becoming an MD or an emergency room doctor, having experienced the reality of hospital environments while in EMT school. It just didn’t feel like healing or growth to me. Around the same time, a friend shared an x-ray photo from chiropractic school, sparking my interest. Coincidentally, I also had an interview with the CIA. Faced with a decision, I chose to pursue chiropractic school because I knew I wanted to deepen my understanding of how to help people. My true passion lies in learning, discovering, and growing.
Upon entering chiropractic school, I quickly realized that the traditional approach to chiropractic care wouldn’t fulfill me. The focus on moving bones repetitively felt limiting, with little room for real change or growth in patients. I began questioning and seeking alternatives. The universe led me to a technique that viewed the body as a whole, focusing on its connective tissues and fascia. This approach acknowledged the brain’s ability to be influenced through touch, creating new neural connections and allowing the body to holistically release tension and change patterns. Instead of simply adjusting specific areas, I became interested in understanding why certain issues arose.
This realization led me to open my practice, recognizing that mainstream chiropractic education lacked this holistic perspective. I wanted to teach future chiropractors that there’s another way to help people heal, focusing on continuous growth and improvement rather than reaching a certain point of comfort. Consequently, my practice began to attract individuals who had exhausted conventional medical options and were seeking a different approach. I empowered them to regain faith in their body’s healing ability, offering support rather than taking control of their healing process. My office operates collaboratively, emphasizing presence and engagement rather than merely prescribing exercises. I’m here to facilitate growth and empower individuals to take charge of their healing journey.
Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
The question of what defines smoothness or roughness is quite intriguing because it often hinges on personal judgment rather than acknowledging the inherent perfection in all aspects of our existence. Consider how this perfection manifests in everyone and everything around us. Our perception shapes our experiences; labeling a situation unfavorable can make it so while cherishing positive moments brings us joy. It’s all a matter of perspective. Reflecting on my journey, what may have seemed rough was simply a part of the larger tapestry of life. Balancing work across five different chiropractic offices while driving for Uber at night to finance the opening of my practice was undoubtedly challenging. However, I successfully launched my practice just two weeks before graduating. Despite facing setbacks, such as a car accident that occurred five months later, I persevered. Instead of letting adversity deter me, it fueled my determination to succeed. Ironically, the insurance’s failure to cover my car repairs led me to embrace the simplicity of riding my motorcycle everywhere. These seemingly challenging times became my life’s most memorable and transformative moments. Whether enduring unexpected rainstorms or encountering mechanical issues during my lunch break, each obstacle became an opportunity for growth and learning. I embraced every experience with gratitude, recognizing the valuable lessons they offered.
