Meet Edward Robinson of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Robinson.

Hi Edward, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Alice’s began in the most unexpected way—while I was playing a video game called The Man Without a Name. One mission involved getting okonomiyaki, a dish I’d never heard of. Curious, I looked it up and was instantly inspired by its creativity and street food charm. I wanted to make it right then, but I didn’t have the traditional ingredients—just some basic breakfast staples. So I improvised, and what came out was a uniquely American take on okonomiyaki. I shared it with my family the next morning, they loved it. Their reaction gave me the confidence to take a leap. The very next day, I started selling it—and that’s how Alice’s Home of the American Omiyaki was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting this business hasn’t been easy. There were times I didn’t have the money I needed, I went through depression, and I even lost my home. I’ve done most of it on my own, and honestly, it’s been pretty lonely at times. But even with all that, it’s also been fun in its own weird way. I’ve learned a lot, and every little win means the world to me. It’s been rough, but I’m still here, still pushing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a chef I’ve been in the industry for about almost 20 years words with all types of food but the two that have my heart are breakfast foods and Italian. I’ve been creative my whole life painting drawing and now I incorporate that creativiveness and to my food it’s the one thing that seems to separate me from others. As far as what I’m most proud of I would have to say my family!

What matters most to you?
Being able to give others the hand up not a handout that they may need in life. I was once in need of such a handup I had been going through a lot of hardships in my life and I was homeless with my son who was only a year and a half at the time. One individual while in this time of hardship came and gave me the hand up I needed and it inspired me to help other who are also maybe in that same situation as I once was
