My journey as a potter began in grade school when I discovered my love for working with clay. I remember that magical moment in art class when I first got my hands dirty and witnessed the transformation of shapeless clay into beautiful, functional objects. From that day forward, I knew I had found my true passion.
As a young potter, I was eager to learn and improve my skills. I spent time watching online tutorials, soaking up knowledge about various techniques, glazes, and firing processes. Experimentation became my playground as I let my creativity flow freely. With every piece I created, my love for pottery grew stronger, and I knew I wanted to take it further.
Throughout high school, I shared my ceramic creations with pride. It was during this time that people began to notice my talent and the positive feedback and recognition fueled my determination to pursue my passion on a deeper level.
After moving from New York to Florida I embarked on a fulfilling career as a ceramics teacher. I currently teach pottery classes at a local art house, sharing my knowledge and passion with students of all ages. Witnessing their progress and nurturing their love for ceramics brings me immense joy. Being able to guide others through the creative process is a rewarding experience that fuels my own growth as a potter.
As my reputation as a skilled potter and teacher grew, I decided to showcase my work at weekend markets. Setting up my own booth, I proudly displayed my meticulously crafted pottery, attracting the attention of art enthusiasts and ceramics lovers alike.
Inspired by their support, I expanded my pottery business to include custom orders. It was a challenge I embraced wholeheartedly, translating my clients’ visions into tangible ceramic pieces. Each custom order pushed me to stretch my creativity and explore new techniques, further refining my skills as a potter.
Today, I find fulfillment in juggling my roles as a ceramics teacher, a local vendor at weekend markets, and a potter taking on custom orders. I continue to learn and evolve by connecting with fellow artisans in the pottery community. My passion for ceramics has not only transformed my own life but has also touched the lives of those around me, as I inspire others to discover the beauty and artistry in working with clay.

Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
As a potter, I derive immense joy from creating pieces that are not only functional but also visually appealing. Whether it’s crafting mugs, bowls, plates, lanterns, or flower pots, I relish the opportunity to shape clay into objects that serve a purpose in people’s daily lives while also bringing aesthetic delight. One aspect of my work that I particularly enjoy is making anatomical pieces that complement the human form. The intricate details and subtle curves of the human body inspire me to translate them into ceramic art. Crafting pieces like vases or sculptures that mimic the organic beauty of the human anatomy is a unique and fulfilling challenge that pushes my artistic boundaries. The transformative process of working with clay from start to finish is an experience I cherish. Beginning with a shapeless lump of clay, I mold and sculpt it with my hands, breathing life into it through my creative vision. I relish the tactile sensation of the clay as it responds to my touch, gradually taking on the form I envision. It’s a dance of patience and skill, where I guide the clay and let it guide me, resulting in a harmonious collaboration between the material and my artistic expression. Consistency is key to me, both in shape and color themes, as it brings a cohesive quality to my collection. I strive to create a sense of unity among my pieces, allowing them to complement and harmonize with one another. Whether it’s a set of mugs that share a common design element or a series of flower pots in varying sizes but with consistent glazes, I aim to maintain a cohesive aesthetic throughout my body of work. Exploring different glazes and experimenting with firing techniques adds an additional layer of excitement to my creative process. The transformation that occurs in the kiln is magical, as the glazes react and interact with the heat, creating unique patterns and hues. I am always amazed by the surprises that await me when I open the kiln and reveal the final result. This element of unpredictability adds an element of anticipation and discovery to my work, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind. In the end, my ultimate goal as a potter is to create functional pieces that not only serve a purpose but also bring joy and beauty into people’s lives. I find fulfillment in knowing that my creations are being used and appreciated in everyday rituals or as decorative accents in people’s homes. The transformative journey from raw clay to finished piece, the consistent aesthetic I strive for, and the fusion of functionality and visual appeal all contribute to my passion for ceramics and my desire to share it with others.
