Today we’d like to introduce you to Freddy Leone.
Hi Freddy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello! I go by the name of Freddy Leone, a self-made producer from Orlando, Florida, and I have been producing music since 2015. At the time, I did not know much about what I was doing or where I was going, but I knew I was interested in music. Almost daily, going to school and working late nights, I always found myself going back to my laptop and fiddling with FL studio for hours, the software I use to produce music. Slowly, I got involved with some young kids making music in my area and started sending beats to them. They started noticing what I could do and how my sound was different yet unique. From there, I was in a small group known as RX (Rated X), and we were known as a collective in our area. We started making merchandise, putting out music together and performing at venues in multiple places in Florida. As time went by, our group slowly separated but remained friends. Some of us are current artists, including me and my good friend Apollo1027. I have worked exclusively with him on multiple occasions, especially since we both started together. Since then, I have met artists from around the world, even some in other areas of Florida. I have come out with quite a few singles and multiple tapes came out. Aside from my releases, multiple artists have dropped music with the rhythm of my drum. As of late, I have been working on an album with another close friend, Josif Grey, who reigns from Connecticut, and this will be our first album ever created, aside from collaborating on this project. We are very excited about what’s to come. The goal is to have the album done by early December. It’s called “Aiming 4 your Heart”. It is a tape with multiple sounds of RnB and hip hop, and I hope our listeners enjoy what we made and help spread the spotlight on our work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like everything in life, nothing comes easy—especially the road I was given. No one in my family is musically inclined, at least not as much as me. No connections and no equipment were given to me. All I have is all I have invested since I started. Thankfully my interests have caught the eyes of multiple creatives worldwide, and they were more than happy to work with me and willing to contribute to my earnings. I have gained multiple relationships and friendships with people I have never met before and people I have met through the same language we speak. It is a beautiful thing to access the internet and social media. It can influence our lives, and I am grateful for where I am and where I will go.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I work on my craft as much as possible. I usually use references before I start a project, so I come in premeditated. I have invested in some plugins which give me access to numerous sounds and instruments, so I use them from time to time. I also find myself sampling certain music pieces and creating a version of myself. I specialize in my production, although I also dip my hands in vocal work and music engineering. I have not gone to school for any of this. So I rely on my ears to tell me what goes where. I am most proud of the projects I have finished because many people have passions they do not pursue. You can be famous and popular to start and finish something you love doing. A lot of people start but only a few finish. I set myself apart by remaining exclusive by not giving the public access to my work. I work with people by reaching out to them or them reaching out to me. I also release my work as an artist on streaming platforms. Not many producers do that, but a producer is just as important as a vocalist.
Are books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
As far as apps, I use basic social media platforms. I follow certain pages that contain tips and shortcuts to make my work process easier. I watch a lot of tutorials on YouTube and listen to different kinds of music to create my blends. I listen to a few podcasts, but that has been something I have wanted to get into.
