Meet Hailey Haddox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Haddox.

Hailey Haddox

Hi Hailey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Originally from Southern California, I grew up going to Disneyland, where I became obsessed with the three-dimensional artistry behind theme parks, props, and stop-motion animation. After spending seven years as a hairstylist in Austin, TX, I moved to Orlando in 2015 to pursue my artwork. This new path launched me into running my small business full-time. In 2021, I signed a contract with LAIKA Animation Studios to create licensed collectibles for fans. This partnership allowed me to showcase my work as a licensed creator while expanding my skills in diverse fields. In addition to my artwork, I’ve recently taken on a new role as a Realtor with Keller Williams, where I can continue creating while expanding my portfolio.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business presents challenges, and avoiding burn-out can be tough, especially when trying to keep up with social media. Creating three-dimensional artwork also has its challenges. Most of my sculptures are made of clay, then molded of silicon and cast of resin. Each material presents its obstacles, meaning every new project is a learning experience.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a child, I loved to draw but have since strayed away from two-dimensional art, as sculpting is my passion. I specialize in sculpting, molding, and casting, but, in short, I am creating something out of nothing. My sculpting style sets me apart from others as I’m meticulous about ensuring everything is smooth and fluid. I am most proud of my latest project.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was shy yet social as a child. I was introverted but loved my friends. My favorite activities often included making up dance routines, Disneyland visits, and arts and crafts.
