Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Ferreria
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My first camera was given to me when I was 11 and I loved taking photos of nature. My interest in photography continued as I documented imagery for my high school’s year book my Junior and Senior years. My love for documenting life’s moments continued to college where I achieved a BA in photography (graduated in 2014) and started second shooting weddings in Chicago. After a couple of years second shooting I took the leap and started photographing weddings as the lead and haven’t looked back since. My husband and I moved to Iowa and I hustled for about 3 years working a full time job in graphic design and doing photography on the side. Things started to click and weddings were filling every weekend. In 2022 I had my first baby girl and my husband and I decided it was best for our family to move to Florida where we pursued more business opportunities.
After moving to New Smyrna Beach, I expanded my business and now have the honor of working with couples in Florida, the Midwest and destinations beyond. If you know me, you know I love to travel – making it easy to work with couples across the map.
My passion is capturing real, authentic, limitless love. Blending art and documentary-style storytelling through digital and film, you’ll be transported back to each individual moment for a lifetime to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. 🙂 Running a business never feels smooth as there are always “up” years and “down” years. I don’t know what the future holds, so I just set my mind to take whatever comes and adjust accordingly for what is best for the business and our family. Specifically some struggles were/are figuring out work/life balance. A current struggles is getting re-established in a new area.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding photographer who is based in New Smyrna Beach (with a special affection for the Midwest). My documentary-style wedding photography captures real, authentic limitless love within the Florida and Midwest areas, and destinations beyond. Known for artfully telling love stories in a way that represents the couple and reflects how their day looked and felt.
I’m most proud of the growth I have made in photography. It can be easy to become complacent and treat every wedding/couple as “cookie cutter” templates, but I love getting to capture the differences in each wedding and couple that make their day/love unique to them. We are all so different and by documenting and highlighting that I get to show the beauty of diversity.
How do you think about happiness?
Nature is my happy place. Even if it’s just outside on the driveway or backyard! There is something about being in nature that fuels my creativity. So many sensory experiences when you go outside. (wind, diversity in colors, textures, etc)
