Hi, Iana. Please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started with a vision. Hair was something I was always into, not rather than a random business idea I could make money on. I was in high school just doing my research testing hair and sometimes even forgetting about it cause I was working 9-5 while trying to graduate. But, bless God, I never gave up on starting my hair business, which eventually became a reality. Over time, I spent searching for my brand’s look and attempting to launch, an experience I will never forget. I was excited to launch my business, but I took my time. Launching my business was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do because, while preparing, I received the worst news of my life as soon as I took the step to make it happen. To this day, I don’t know how I managed to keep going because that was my lowest point mentally. But I know it is well because I’m here today with the same business idea from 2020, selling hair, promoting my brand, and taking those big steps to grow; I’m still standing by the grace of God.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ll say no, especially if you are doing it in truth. You’re investing in your money and attempting to ensure every move you make is smart and profitable. Some days, you’re not going to make money, then some you will, but I put that in my head not to feel so defeated when I have those moments in my journey with my business. I’ll say motivation because some days I’m just not there mentally or motivated to keep going, but those are the days I give myself pep talks to keep going. It’s hard, but my purpose for this is bigger than how I feel.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with what you do?
I’m Iana. Most know me from China from social media. I own myperfecthairx, an online store and local hair supplier in Orlando, Florida, selling everything: hair, wigs, bundles, tape-ins, frontals, closures, lace bands, and more. I think my proudest moments are when I take big risks and step out of my comfort zone with my business; it just shows how fully committed I am to my brand and that, regardless of the outcome, I’m putting my total effort and trust in the goal for my brand. What sets me apart from other brands is that I don’t just sell Hair; I give you an exclusive experience, so it’s very intentional and detailed when I do things. Investing in my brand with a billboard to announce my launch before it was even official many people would need help to do that. Myperfecthairx is an experience that makes you want to come back and will continue to grow and change, and the cycle goes on because I’m constantly improving.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My industry constantly changes so it can be a hit or miss. More people prefer the natural look, like sew or tape-ins instead of wigs. It will be an up-and-down thing with that. Still, there will be a few changes, as in taking away increases, which could benefit business owners in the same industry as me.
