Meet Jacob Rodriguez of Analog Film Photography Association

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Rodriguez.

Hi Jacob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jacob Rodriguez. I have a background in gallery installation and being an assistant curator. In the summer of 2019, I was meeting up with my friend Markus Rowntree about having a pop-up show at his studio. We talk about how people are branding, and I figure that’s the best route for me to take. So I started Analog Film Photography Association (AFPA).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At first it has been a smooth road but once Covid happened, it was a struggle. We had to close down our location and relocated to a new facility call Favo Arts Village.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The Analog Film Photography association exists to promote art created from analog film cameras and give the artist the opportunity to showcase their work in a gallery setting and promoting with the highest standard which encourages public appreciation. We off theme juried shows and give both amateurs and professional the opportunity to display their artwork. If chosen, we do offer matting, framing, and printing of their art, which sets up apart from other local galleries here in Orlando. Every other month we do have open calls and give people the opportunity to submit their art.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like how this city is slowly evolving! The least I like about this city is how conservative it can be.
