Hi Jailene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Jailene!
My walk through this business journey started about a year and a half ago. I was pregnant, and I knew I didn’t want to go back to a 9-to-5, especially with having the baby. I’ve always had the idea of being my own boss; so through perseverance and pushing myself as hard as I could to be where I want to be, I got certified during my pregnancy to become a lash artist. Although it wasn’t easy, I spent a lot of time practicing and working towards perfecting my craft. After I gave birth, I took a pause to really get a grasp on what I wanted.
Here I am now a couple months later, and my business is flourishing! I’m intentionally motivated to take my business to the level I know it can be. I’m currently a small business owner and I can’t wait to see how that grows in the next few months.
The journey is never easy; it’s definitely been a wild ride with a lot of learning, and I’ve experienced first-hand that it takes a lot of heart. In it all, setting my mind on my goals has helped me push through any obstacle, not just for me but for my family.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, I don’t think anything worth fighting forever is. I believe the biggest struggle for me has been adapting to my now one-year-old. There are also many people trying to get into this field so growth in this industry is a lot harder. But I would not trade any of it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in eyelash extension application and lash health. I am most known for my ability to provide different styles and customize sets according to my clients. I am most proud of the growth I have had within my business and how far I have come within a short time. What sets me apart from others is my ability to relate to my clients on a personal level and provide something for them I would personally want for myself!
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe my industry will flourish within the next couple years. It’s an art and with art comes creativity and growth in many areas. Lashes have already become a huge trend and continue to push boundaries.
