Meet James “JimmyMack” Rice

Today we’d like to introduce you to James “JimmyMack” Rice.

Hi James “JimmyMack”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a Hip Hop artist, I have been writing songs and producing music since the age of 14 years old and I was playing instruments since the age of 11 years old. I joined the Army at the age of 17. During my time in the Military, I performed with DJs as an M.C. throughout Germany and continued to hone my skills as a songwriter. The creation of Senshi Entertainment is a start-up company that is a lifelong dream. I am the only artist for the moment to create a series of projects that we wanted to create. Once we are fully launched as a company, we will start looking to take on new artists in the Orlando Area. Senshi Entertainment is a company created by Myself and my partner Adrian Lowe. About myself, I am Realtor/property manager for Weichert Realtors Hallmark Properties during the day and I write music and produce.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has been a long and rough road to where I gave up on my artistry because I didn’t believe in myself. Initially, the first group that I was in was ripped off by a promoter when we were young artists. This was an event that caused us to break up as a group. I gave up and decided to follow the norms of getting a normal job working and fell into the mode of being complacent in what I was doing. But, not being happy with what I was doing was enough for me to decide to go to college and later go get my real estate license to create a business, Then eventually reignite my music career. Senshi Entertainment obstacles are mainly situations in life. When you pursue a music career later in life, you have responsibilities that are different when you pursue a career when you are a young kid. The main obstacle is not money or discipline in creating a business or an entertainment business. It’s having the time to build your dream with families that are relying on you. The other obstacle is creating a product that is actually marketable and is creative enough to establish and following of fans in a new era of music-making which is pretty unfamiliar to us. Relearning the industry after being out of the industry for many years is also an obstacle. The industry changes constantly when you are no longer in the industry, you get left behind you end up in a catch-up stage now learning every day what we need to do to become a success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Songwriter and Producer Specializing in hip hop and R and B, I specialize in Hip hop, Hip hop is my first love in the music industry. What we are starting to be known for is a dedication to detail and openness to creativity. I’m proud of this new project we are releasing my own Lane. What sets me apart from the other artist is my versatility in songwriting. I am able to write a country song, to EDM to Hip hop, Rock, to Rand B. If the beat is a good beat, I can create a song to it.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to people starting out is. Never stop believing in yourself no matter how negative the situation is and no matter what life sends your way. The thing I wish I knew was better when I started out was understanding contracts and negotiation technics, not trusting everyone who claims they can better your career.
