Meet Jamisha Lawton of Riché Intimacy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamisha Lawton.

Hi Jamisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I remember the start of my business like it was yesterday. It all started with lingerie! So, long story short, I was in a relationship with my now ex-boyfriend who was incarcerated. This day in particular was a tough day for me, I was lonely being that he was away and I was also away from family and friends because I was away for college, in a new city all by myself. I decided I wasn’t going to sit around wasting a good day. I got up, got cute and went shopping! Nothing like shopping to make you feel better right? While I was shopping I decided to grab some lingerie. When I got home I cooked dinner for myself, set up candles around the house, and ran me a hot bubble bath. Just a self-care type of day. When I got out of my bubble bath, I put on my lingerie and I’ll never forget how it made me feel. In that moment I felt confident, feminine and sexy as hell! Which I hadn’t felt in awhile because all I had been going through. It was in that moment I realized it was on me to make me feel good and I wanted other women to feel the same. Wearing lingerie is not about pleasing a man, its about you and embracing your womanhood! That next day I spent all day looking for vendors and coming up with a name and its been a beautiful journey ever since. I’ve now expanded to selling women’s clothing and also becoming a makeup artist. I really do enjoy helping women look and feel Riché in everyway!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish it was a smooth road! I’ve had so many challenges along the way, but I appreciate them all. I started my business in 2015 its now 2021 and sometimes things still don’t go right. This is my first business so I’m learning as I’m going. The biggest challenges so far has to be consistency and doubting myself. Two very hard challenges to overcome but, I’m working on it.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice would be to keep going! In the beginning, its going to be hard and you’re going to want to quit but keep going! The customers will come, just be consistent and show up to do the work. Have exceptional customer service skills! Great customer service will take your business a long way. Do your research and take classes, never stop educating yourself on your industry and lastly have fun! If you’re not having fun, its gong to be just like working a job that you hate but worse because your paycheck depends on you!
