Today we’d like to introduce you to Janaina Santos.
Hi Janaina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am originally from Brazil, moved to South Florida with my family when I was really young. I’ve been working as an Interior Designer ever since I got my degree from the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale in 2012. Deerfield Beach is where I grew up before moving to Orlando, where I got married and most of my family is still living, besides my family in Brazil.
It was a great experience working on modern/contemporary residences and luxury apartments in Miami. Moving to Orlando with my husband and starting a new chapter, I decided to found Pro Design & Interiors, where I continued to do beautiful residential projects in Winter Garden and surrounding areas! My passion is to create timeless solutions according to my client’s lifestyles, the perfect combination between functionality and beauty, that will give them the feeling of a comfortable home!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is never smooth! The main struggle I should say was to readjust all that I’ve learned and experienced in Miami to Orlando because it is a different clientele, style, and culture! I remember in Miami I had to learn Spanish because most of the clients are Latinos, which was a plus since my main language is Portuguese, I added to my curriculum really quickly!
In Orlando, it is a completely different style and scenario with Interior Design!
It was a good struggle because with my career we learned to be creative and to do what the clients need and want regardless of their location or language! I am here to design and guide them where to find the perfect items, finishes, furniture, and accessories in harmony!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are specialized on residential and vacation home projects. We offer a couple of different types of contracts to better assist everybody: full design services, which includes remodeling to the whole house, decoration only and E-design online consultation that could be for one specific room decor or the whole house with our guidance!
I am very passionate about my projects, I consider them all my babies, and we aim for our client’s satisfaction! We have a great team that makes it all possible and an extensive online portfolio to show off our most up-to-date work, and I am looking forward to learning more, getting to know interesting families, expanding our business, and helping make this world even more beautiful!
It is a very personal and interesting job working in people’s home and being part of their daily routines. In most of our projects, the clients actually live in their houses while we remodel, and although they get a little anxious about the process (totally understandable) it is very rewarding for both sides when we finish, and we can see the impact of that house transformation to their lives! I think that’s what motivates me to always learn and do better!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Yes, most definitely, my family, specially my husband are my rock! With all my doubts and great moments, all the growth and difficulties, they have been always there to support my decisions!
And I am very grateful for my team and professionals that help me bring to life my ideas. Even though planning is a major part of what I do, every project is a new adventure! We start getting to know the residents of the house family and pets, their ideas and expectations, and we brainstorm the best solutions that will bring that level of beauty and comfort they are waiting for. Without my team that would never be possible!
Most important, I’ve learned so much with all my projects and amazing clients until today from adapting a house to a sweet client that is handicap, to design a super cute nursery, and create beautiful themed bedrooms… our success was the consequence of finding their happy place!
