Today we’d like to introduce you to Jemuel Carty.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey as a videographer started shortly after I got out of high school. While in school, I learned about graphics design, and I used some of those skills to create a basketball brand. The website featured a huge streetball community and most importantly our highlight videos. Shooting and editing all the content was my first step toward creating videos.
I later took up weddings over the last few years just to add to my wife with Sentimental Sessions Photography packages. I shot a few free weddings and fell in love with the craft. The memory of being booked for a destination wedding in Cancun Mexico motivated me to take this career seriously. Soon after Jem Visuals Media was created and here we are.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, the ride has been smooth. Since I understand what it takes to start from the bottom to grow a business the hurdles and slow progression to success feel natural.
I never feel like any part of the process of producing a wedding film feels like work. Marketing the brand is another aspect of the business I also enjoy. Most creators find themself solely focusing on building their skills and not the actual business. So for the most part things have been smooth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in story-driven wedding films. Often a wedding video will be a chronological order highlight reel of the day. I strive to connect with my clients and capture their stories in combination with their special wedding day.
This allows the film to be unique to the couple and leaves a stronger legacy behind for generations to come. Before becoming a filmmaker, I was a musician, music has a huge impact on the energy and emotions of a film.
Understanding what type of music makes sense with the visuals is huge. So I would say that sets me apart from the majority of others in my field.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The biggest supporter I have is my teammate my wife. She runs Sentimental Sessions Photography and my journey to shooting weddings came specifically with tagging along with her.
She has an incredible eye for capturing emotions and passion in a creative way. Her input on the films always takes the finished product to a higher level. We now operate as a team to capture both video and photos of wedding days seamlessly with chemistry.
