Hi Jeremy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Meet Helen and Jeremy Viens, proud owners of Woofie’s® of Davenport-Kissimmee! After relocating from New Hampshire to Florida, the high school sweethearts and lifelong animal lovers saw an opportunity to start a new chapter that combined their professional skills with their passion for pets. With backgrounds in education, music, and finance, Helen and Jeremy bring compassion, organization, and a strong commitment to customer service to every interaction.
They’ve embraced the diverse, vibrant communities of Davenport and Kissimmee and are excited to provide local pet owners with the trustworthy, high-quality care Woofie’s is known for. Alongside their Bernese Mountain Dog, Flynn, their Bernedoodle rescue Meg, and their two kids, Jacob and Robyn, the Viens family looks forward to supporting local shelters and helping others experience the same peace of mind they value when it comes to pet care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After being an employee of a large financial firm for over 20 years (Jeremy), and a teacher for over 18 (Helen), starting our own business has been filled with challenges. The first of which is the constant learning about how to run a business, from hiring the right employees, to finding the right clients. We try to manage our staff the way we wanted to be treated as employees, and we treat our clients the way we would like to be treated. Hiring the right talent was another challenge, but now we have a great team of highly skilled and trusted groomers and pet sitters. We still have some difficulty with getting our name out there and making people aware that Woofie’s of Davenport-Kissimmee is here for all your pet sitting and grooming needs.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Generally, I’ve been fairly risk adverse for the vast majority of my life, which worked well for the most part. But my risk aversion turned into complacency and unhappiness over the past several years. I was just going through the motions, working a job I was not truly happy in, and living in a place that I loved, but also gave me severe seasonal depression. Eventually we decided to take a risk and make a move, even knowing it would result in having to leave our jobs. In 2024, we decided we would move to FL from NH, so we bought house, and moved our family down here. That was a big enough risk for most people… but we decided to double down. While looking for work, we were not finding anything that was a good fit, so after many months of research and discussions, we decided we would buy a mobile grooming franchise. This decision changed our lives completely, and while we are still very much in the growth startup phase, so far the risk has been worth it. If we did not take the risk, we would not be living in this beautiful state, doing this work which is extremely fun and fulfilling, far more than I’ve ever experienced in my professional life up to this point. Taking risks of this magnitude is not for everyone, and up until 2024 it was not for me either… or so I thought.
