Meet Jesse Bruner of Orlando, Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Bruner.

Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been a nail artist since 2004. I started as an apprentice in a resort town in Delaware in my 20’s. Nails started as just a summer job. But as I saw all the different opportunities through teaching and nail art competitions, I started a life long career.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Salon services are definitely not a traditional way to make money. It’s mostly commission based pay. It takes patience and good budgeting to survive. But there are certain behaviors you can learn to attract and maintain a clientele. I was fortunate to start in a really well run business that set a good example (Avenue Apothecary and Spa, Rehoboth Beach, DE)

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In the salon my focus is natural nail health, hygiene and beautiful balanced nail structure. Neat polish application and trendy, elegant nail art.
Art is one of my other passions, for all of my life. And I’ve found a way to incorporate that into my career through nail art competitions. I’ve been competing for 12 years and I’ve won competitions in the USA and Russia. I’ve also taught over 1,000 students in 9 countries and online.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the beautiful weather and being able to spend time outdoors all year. Orlando has great restaurants, nightlife , shopping. I can’t think of anything I don’t like.
