Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Osborne
Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey to creating J. Couture Innovations has been a winding path of purpose, faith, and resilience. My name is Jessica Osborne, and while I’m the proud owner of J. Couture Innovations, the story of how I got here is anything but a straight line. I started my career journey in physical education, teaching elementary students. With a bachelor’s in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in Health, Human Performance, and Recreation from Pittsburg State University, I originally imagined a future in physical therapy, maybe even working for my favorite NFL team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. I spent a year in physical therapy school, only to realize that this wasn’t my calling. At a crossroads and unsure of my next steps, I turned to my biggest supporter and prayer warrior—my mom—who encouraged me to take a leap and consider a career in teaching. I soon found myself as a Physical Education teacher, forming strong bonds with my students and colleagues, who became like family to me. However, I knew deep down that this wasn’t the final stop on my journey. Outside of work, I had always been the planner and organizer, the go-to person for coordinating events among my friends, family, and sorority sisters in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. During the pandemic, I began creating a planner that covered all aspects of my life, from church and personal goals to sorority meetings and budgeting. The idea came from recognizing a need for a tool that could streamline and unite the lives of women in businesses, organizations, and sororities—a tool for connecting and uplifting through planning. At the time, though, life kept me busy juggling multiple jobs, responsibilities, and supporting others, and my dreams of creating something of my own were put on the back burner. Fast forward to 2023, and I found myself in a moment of transition, leaving my job in education with no clear plan. In the quiet of those uncertain days, I found myself turning to prayer, asking for guidance on my next steps. One day, I reopened my laptop and looked at the planner I had started, and suddenly, my ideas began to flow again. I took those years of ideas and finally brought them to life, creating the Sisterhood Planner—a planner that not only organizes but also empowers women in their goals, relationships, and ambitions. Starting J. Couture Innovations wasn’t originally part of my plan, but it became my path to fulfilling my purpose. This business embodies my belief that passion fuels purpose and that it’s never too late to transform dreams into reality. Now, one year later, I’ve grown in ways I hadn’t imagined. God answered my prayers for a more flexible career that would let me focus on my business, and I found myself back in education—this time in higher education, supporting and inspiring others to keep going, even if they don’t get it right on the first try. J. Couture Innovations is a testament to the belief that life’s detours are often where we find our true direction. Today, I hope to show others that while the journey might not always make sense, each step has a purpose, and when we walk in faith, our path will lead us to exactly where we’re meant to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I’ve come to understand that every obstacle has been a part of shaping my journey with J. Couture Innovations. At each stage, there were moments where things didn’t go as planned—like when I realized physical therapy wasn’t my path after spending a year in school, or when I stepped away from teaching with no set direction for what was next. These challenges, though difficult, became invaluable lessons. They taught me resilience, patience, and, perhaps most importantly, a deepened trust in God’s timing. There were plenty of times I found myself caught in the trap of comparison, looking at others and wondering why their journeys seemed to be more direct or why they were achieving things I still dreamed about. It’s easy to scroll through highlights of someone else’s success and feel like you’re falling short, or to question if your path is taking too long. But the truth is, those moments of doubt and comparison distracted me from fully appreciating the life I was meant to live. Over time, I realized that each person’s journey is uniquely crafted, and the detours and delays in mine were preparing me in ways I couldn’t yet understand. As I stepped back and refocused on my own purpose, I began to see that those perceived failures weren’t failures at all—they were moments of redirection, teaching me the value of persistence and the importance of staying true to my calling. When I left teaching without a clear path, I could’ve seen it as a step backward, but it was actually God making room for what would come next. That moment, which felt like an ending, became the beginning of my business, allowing me to create a planner that could empower other women like me to organize their lives, pursue their goals, and live in alignment with their purpose. Now, as I look back on the years of setbacks and sidesteps, I see the beauty in each of those experiences. The failures, the closed doors, and the redirections were exactly what I needed. I’ve come to understand that comparison is a distraction that can cloud your vision, and only when I stopped looking at others and started trusting my own path did I find clarity. Today, I’m grateful for the journey, with all its twists and turns, because it led me to create something meaningful and to live the life God called me to live. This journey has taught me that success isn’t just reaching a destination; it’s about embracing every part of the process, even the messy, unpredictable moments. When you surrender to the path uniquely designed for you, you’re finally able to live fully, without comparing, without looking sideways. I now focus on showing others that each step, even the hard ones, has a purpose, and every experience builds us into the person we are meant to be.

As a lifelong “planner girlie,” literally from the young age of 10 setting out my clothes each week for school, I understand the power of a well-structured life, and I want to share that with others. Planning isn’t just about staying organized; it’s about setting intentions, reaching for goals, and living a life that aligns with your values and it comes in many forms not just on pen and paper. I’m proud that our planners and journals reflect this, designed to help users structure their lives in ways that encourage growth, connection, and balance.
One of the things I’m most proud of about J. Couture Innovations is the way we’ve made organization accessible and meaningful. Our planners aren’t just about to-do lists; they are tools for self-discovery and empowerment, connecting women across different stages of life. I want our readers to know that J. With our planners and journals, I want to teach others that organizing your life is more than a skill; it’s a mindset that can lead to a more fulfilling, purpose-driven life. Our statement tees, too, are about more than fashion; they’re a declaration of passion and purpose. Each piece is designed to reflect who I am and what J. Couture Innovations stands for—a brand that encourages others to embrace their identity, dreams, and the power of community.
In addition to my work with J. Couture Innovations, I continue to fulfill my love for teaching and mentoring, working with young girls and young adults in career development, life skills, and goal-setting. Helping others unlock their potential is deeply important to me, and my work in education complements the mission of my business—empowering others to live with purpose. In everything we do, J. Couture Innovations is about creating tools and experiences that uplift and connect. Whether through our planners, journals, or statement tees, my hope is to inspire others to live a life driven by passion, to see planning as a way of loving yourself and nurturing your goals, and to trust that organizing your life is something everyone can enjoy and benefit from.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always surrounded by activities, support, and a lively family life. My parents made sure that both my younger brother and I stayed active and engaged. I was involved in everything—from cheer and dance to Girl Scouts, and I even tried my hand at flag football once! Our family has always had a deep love for sports, and that passion became a foundation for so much of what I enjoy even now, hence my degree choices. I’d say I was definitely the extrovert among my family and friends. I loved being around people, bringing energy to any room, and connecting with others in a way that’s still part of who I am today. Friendships were always important to me, and some of my closest friends are still the ones I’ve known for 30 years or more. Birthday parties were a big deal, and they were always themed—a fun tradition that became a staple of my childhood. Life was full of routines and schedules, too. There was always a plan in place, whether it was for school, activities, or just family time. This naturally fostered my love for planning early on. I learned that planning wasn’t just about getting things done but about creating space for joy, connection, and memories. Looking back, I can see how this foundation built my passion for helping others organize their lives through J. Couture Innovations today.
