Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Pagan.
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Artistry was always what I was into growing up, my passion for artistry goes all the way back to when I was in grade school. I was 12 years old when I started sketching cartoon characters that I grew up watching on TV. As I grew older, my passion for art grew stronger. sketching was therapeutic to me and proved to be an outlet too. I love art and for a while wanted to be an art teacher, I was introduced to face painting when I was 17 and found I really enjoyed it. then I was introduced to a community of artists who loved to do body paint, Halloween and SFX makeup looks and my craft took flight from there. I started practicing makeup on myself and my friends, friends of friends began to ask to get their makeup done for special occasions. thus my career in makeup artistry blossomed from there. I am a self taught makeup artist. I am very blessed to have discovered the talent that I have. I would dedicate hours to my artistry, practicing new techniques every chance I had. I am currently a full time freelance makeup artist and owner of GlitzGlam & Gore Makeup LLC. I do makeup for weddings, special occasions, editorial shoots and Halloween/SFX makeup.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been in the industry for 10 years now. It has not been smooth, it took years of practice, trial and error and criticism to be where I am today. when you have a passion for something you truly love to do you work so hard to make things happen. and that is what I did with my artistry career. some of my struggles was building a solid cliental, putting my work out there and of course the criticism I would receive of my work throughout the years when I first started. I stayed consistent and did the best I could to perfect my craft. and here I am today, in 2017 I became a full time makeup artist and opened my business as GlitzGlam & Gore Makeup LLC. I am blessed that my business has been doing well.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in beauty makeup/ halloween and SFX makeup. I am known for my creative looks. I am most proud of the creative looks I have created on myself. I am proud of being able to use paint & makeup to transform myself into different characters, what sets me apart from other beauty artists is the versatility I have in my craft
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I can’t say I have one particular memory but when asked this question, it’s the flood of memories of the smalls fun things I got to do with my brother and sister when we played outside as kids, having races up and down our neighborhood after school, playing softball, using our imaginations to create different scenarios in our heads while we played outside, I used to love getting together and roller blading outside for hours.
