Hi Jimmie L , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was introduced to the profession of home inspecting when I was a realtor from 2004 – 2010. I would be present at each of the inspections for my clients during that time. I leaned in and learned a plethora good and not so good practices through observation and question asking. I went back to work as a retailer for Walmart Stores, Inc from 2008 – 2015. As I ended my time in that field, I drew up a business plan, achieved my home inspection license and introduced Home Assured Property Inspection Services, Inc to the state of Florida in October 2015.
HAPIS, hit the ground with great momentum as we focused on “the live in the home approach” during our inspections. Our inspections take 3 to 5 hours to complete because we are thorough, meaning we desire to inform our clients everything from Major issues to minor issues (noisy door, noisy ceiling fan, missing door stoppers, leaky dishwashers, hard to open windows, failed electrical receptacles etc). We also pattern our communication to basic enough where everyone can understand (including Mom) what is being stated. We educate our clients during the process exceptions that can cost them in the short term future (changing A/C Freons, Insulation Depth and aging or outdated components of their potential future home such as 2-prong receptacles etc).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Real Estate Industry can be volatile (peaks and valleys) and learning to be frugal equates to the long game.
When the business does not require us to be in the field inspecting as much as we would like, we turn our focus to marketing and continuing education.
We enjoy the fact that our services that are being delivered are extremely helpful to our clients and they have grown to enjoy and trust HAPIS.

I absolutely Love, Love, Love Sunny Central Florida. Orlando really is the City Beautiful. I often travel with a watchful eye of what different cites have to offer compared to ours and I have come to the conclusion that I am biased, Orlando is my kind of town. I love the outdoors activities that CFL offers such as biking, golfing, walking trails and award winning parks. To say that our city is an entertaining metropolis, would be an understatement, as it offers everything from tourism, performing arts, great dining, sports and more.
I once thought that we had a traffic problem until I spent considerable time in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami and Tampa and I have come to realize that the designers of our roads have performed brilliantly.
