Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Quirola. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Jimmy’s Family background is from Ecuador where he was raised until the age of 6, after that he grew up in NYC living in tiny one-bedroom apartment with his grandparents. They taught him the value of hard work and integrity. They did not have much, but what they never lacked was love and affection. When he was old enough, he started working as a stock/cashier in a supermarket being a young dad at 18. He had to work many jobs in his life from pizza delivery on a bike to school custodian and then to server/bartender which eventually led to management. After many years in the corporate world as a director of operations and hospitality management, he decided to take a different role in life with real estate. His past has earned real-life experience in customer service and business procedures, and being from NYC understands cultural diversity in all types of people in the world. Jimmy is bilingual in Spanish and English and holds a bachelor’s degree in multimedia design. He enjoys spending time with his wife and his two grown children. His hobbies include running, traveling, and outdoor activities like skateboarding and Kayaking. Jimmy has a passion for photography and videography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a young dad at 18 was tough; I had to grow up fast. I had to work all kinds of jobs to make ends meet. It did not work out with my son’s mother, and we separated at the time I turned 20, she moved to Florida, and it was a heart-breaking time not being able to see him. I eventually met the mother of my daughter in my early twenties. We were together a few years before that relationship didn’t work out. After 9/11 happened, I decided to move out of NYC and headed to Orlando Florida to be closer to my son, unfortunately, I had to go thru another heartbreak of not being able to see my daughter. A few years later, my daughter moved to Florida, and I was able to be in my kid’s life growing up. My children are grown adults now, and I have a good communication with them, we talk often, and they come to me for advice. I married my long-time girlfriend Brandi of 10 years and have been happily married now for 7 years, traveling the world and going to concerts.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am presently a real estate agent. I have had many roles in life and know the value of hard work. My secret to success is that in any field of work I was in, I would treat it as if it were my business. One of the sayings that always come to mind is “do you want to be a liability or an asset.”, “Giving your word is your worth, so don’t ever make promises you cannot keep.”
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
“Do you want to be a liability or an asset.”, “Giving your word is your worth, so don’t ever make promises you cannot keep.” One of the things I wish I did more was absorb knowledge from my elders; they really understand life since they have lived it.
