Meet Joe Ferrer of MyAdvisorJoe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Ferrer. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Joe Ferrer is making big waves through micro philanthropy.

A successful financial advisor, author, and dad, Joe’s trove of accomplishments is as big as his heart. Yet, he used to put off giving. He always thought, “When I pay off my debt, I’ll donate consistently.” or, “When I start earning more, I’ll be able to start giving.”

It wasn’t until his 40th birthday that everything changed. He’d always talked about doing random acts of kindness but decided that today was the day that he’d truly start giving. So, he gathered his family and his funds and set out to do something special – spend the day simply giving.

That day, Joe and his family helped people pay their light bills, helped a family get the funds to adopt a child, picked up people’s grocery tabs, and so much more. And he wanted to keep going.

The foundations for Mailbox Money were set.

For the last 1.5 years since that day, hundreds of donors have made donations between $10 a month and $10,000, and Mailbox Money has pooled those funds to continue giving out random acts of kindness.

In fact, Joe’s initial ‘Mailbox Money’ day back in 2020 has now grown to over 550 golden envelopes in 19 states and has helped 400 people become micro-philanthropists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any new business, there are ups and downs. We are blessed to still be able to continue to grow the vision. Our initial thoughts were that $10 monthly would be something everyone would do. We have learned that consistent giving is different and not as easy as it may appear.
