Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Dayoub.
Hi Jorge, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I got to the US in 2014 and like most immigrants with a lot of dreams. After some jobs, I started at Second Harvest Food Bank where I did a Culinary Certificate, which gave me the opportunity to work at Hyatt Regency Orlando.
In 2020, due to the pandemic, I was laid off from Hyatt Regencia. In 2021, I was hired by Gordon Ramsey North America to work as Cook and right now Team leader.
in 2022, we decided to buy a hit dog cart with the goal of bringing to Orlando the Caracas gastronomy. Last October with started to be part of Lake Nona Art After Dark.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Generally, it is been pretty smooth, however, in an era where social media is the main channel for marketing, we had to learn how to use the resources in our favor.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Chef. At the moment, I am working at Gordon’s Ramsey Fish and Chips restaurant.
I have always loved the culinary and events world. Bringing my country street food known in another completely different country makes me really proud of myself.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Be yourself and never doubt to ask.
