Meet Joshua Barbaccia of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Barbaccia

Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has been a forefront for each of our lives since we were young. We all meet while working at the same company screen printing merchandise. Christian GUÍ Viguie (our drummer) was playing for Orlando local legends “Leatherette”, Anthony Gonzalez (our guitarist) was touring consistently with his post-hardcore project “I Met a Yeti” and I, Joshua Rock Barbaccia (our vocalist/bassist), was putting out constant solo work and helping other local artists with gigs and shows in my free time. As musicians we are in constant search of new ideas to work off of and other fellow musicians to jam with. It was about two years ago the three of us decided to meet up and see if our energy clicked. Little did we know the ideas we had would be bouncing off each other at such rapid pace and the flow of our first time playing together would be smooth. It was from that point on we hit the ground running. Working on songs, trying to pitch band names, and figure out with all our collected skills how we could get this project moving. As of today the band as a whole are roommates and are getting ready for an album release and more shows for the year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The common aspects of being in a band have been smooth. Our friendship makes it simple for us to collaborate and work together. For struggles though the biggest one with starting any business, project, or band is finances. Currently we have a whole setup for screen printing in our garage. All the money we make from printing merchandise for others we use to fund the band. Whether it be the big stuff like road trips to play shows in other states or the small stuff like buying new guitar strings. Money will probably always be an obstacle but we make do with what we got and strive to have the least of worries with our art.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What we do is… we make music! We are most proud of our growth, collaborating with other acts, and playing shows for large crowds. What sets us apart from others is combining elements of power-pop, midwest-emo, and pop-punk with lyrics that touch on the everyday to day and experiences in our own personal lives.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a bit shy but bloomed into an extroverted personality as the years went by. I myself was born and raised in lower Alabama on a farm. That lifestyle made me into a hard worker who’s never afraid to get down and get dirty when necessary. My interests of-course include music but also writing, video games, and travel.
