Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Sellers.
Hi Kaitlyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I feel that my story starts quite similar to that of most photographers. When I was little, my mom had a ‘good camera’ that I loved to run around the yard and use to photograph anything from flowers and bugs to our horses and dogs. I loved seeing the crisp images and the incredible focus. I remember when I got my first inquiry to do family photos for a friend, and I was terrified. I quickly panicked and felt under-experienced, under-qualified, and nervous just at the thought of photographing people. It would require posing and the ability to work with a lot of movement – both of which I’d never done! I went with it though, and that was my first paid session. The summer of 2019 was the start of what has become Kaitlyn Sellers Photography.
Since starting my journey 3 years ago, I married my wonderful husband, become a mother to 2 beautiful boys, and lost my mom, and best friend, to her battle with cancer. These three years have not only altered my life but my perspective. My passion for moments and in turn for photos has grown immensely. Every moment we have with our loved ones is a gift – every single one. This season of my life has led me to become as passionate as I am for my clients and their investment in holding onto these little moments and seasons of their lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t know if I would call this a smooth road with the big life events I’ve gone through since starting out, but one of the toughest parts of life for everyone is finding balance. I have definitely struggled with balance the most as my client base has grown. In addition to being a wife, mother, and photographer, I also am a full-time virtual teacher. I love every aspect of what I do though, and every challenge of every day. I am incredibly blessed and am thankful to ride the waves that come my way.

I believe that what sets me apart is my client experience. I do my best to bring fun, laughter, and candid moments to every session. I love to capture real moments with true-to-life and vibrant edited images for clients to have for years to come. My hope is that these images help my clients relive those moments every time they look at them.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
So far, I have made this growth without a mentor or network. I follow a few Facebook pages but find much of my inspiration on Instagram. I follow photographers from all over the country that share their tips, tricks, and work.
