Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Pascual-Carrion.
Hi Karla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got pregnant young so it was hard to keep a job and felt like going to college would take too long to start making a good amount of money. I was homeless for years until I finished cosmetology school and finally started growing my clientele.
I’ve put a lot of money into learning new skills in this industry and look at my daughter every day thankful for her giving me that push to never give up.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all growing up. I didn’t have a lot growing up. My dad left when I was young and my mom was always at work. Before 18, I was homeless. In abusive relationships, going to jail, dropping out of school, much more but I really feel like I got through it all in the end.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I do cosmetology. So anything involving hair, skin, and nails is what I do! I specialize in natural hair & CBD pedicures. I’m most proud of my growth & getting it all done myself. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t do this for money. I really do this for the people who don’t think it’s possible to change and to keep chasing your dream.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as how hard you work.
