Today we’d like to introduce you to Karly Ochampaugh.
Hi Karly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Healthy and holy started my senior year of high school as an idea to bring a love of faith, fitness, and fashion to my peers and make some connections as a new student. What began as an and simple Instagram account boomed to hundreds of followers! It was then that I knew healthy and holy was made to be more! The heart of healthy and holy is to bring modest fashion to a population, where modesty and elegance is often forgotten. To be both healthy and holy begins with an inward conviction and an outward expression. What better way to do so through modest fashion?! So healthy and holy boutique was born! In my freshman year of college the idea turned into a reality and has blessed so many people with great clothes at affordable prices and we continue to grow!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a small business as a freshman in college definitely was no easy task. Being an elementary education major, I had little to no direction on where to go to start a small business. But through lots of research and support from my family, husband and Heavenly Father it became possible! Some of the biggest struggles was learning, proper marketing and branding, finding reliable vendors, and handling shipping with quick turnaround times. it had a couple of twist and turns along the way, but was worth every struggle to learn and grow and be the best it can be!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am many different things! Wife, entrepreneur, small business owner, dog mom, Pagaent winner and teacher name a few. My main vocation is an elementary teacher. I have a wonderful Pre-Kindergarten classroom full of bright students whom I love to teach. I am proud to pour into the lives a little learners and teach them not just curriculum but how to live life and excel in it. And although I am so proud to be a teacher, I am most proud of my small business and online boutique, Healthy and Holy. I think being a small business owner and community member allows you to connect with others on a unique level. I think I am known most for my smile and upbeat love for life and people. This carries me every day throughout all my vocations, combining a smile with modesty, elegance and leadership!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I am a pageant winner! Back in 2023 I competed in a pageant in mid Michigan to be a titleholder and scholarship bearer of the Queen of Scots. Queen of Scots is a scholarship opportunity to serve your community by traveling all over the state to represent a hometown Scottish festival hosted by the Alma Highland festival. Throughout your reign you participate in parades, give speeches, and connect with communities all over to share your love for people, and all things Scottish! In 2022 I won 2nd runner up and served with my sister as Wee Queen of Scots and in 2023 I won and became the official queen of Scots serving with my other sister as the wee queen! The best part was wearing a kilt wherever I went and traveling the state with both of my sisters meeting, so many amazing people along the way!
