Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Bradford.
Kelly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I became vegan in 2007 when I found out my youngest son was allergic to dairy. I had already been vegetarian for years, so the transition wasn’t difficult. I started my Instagram account, @Veganmomandsons, in 2017, as a way to share family-friendly vegan recipes and hopefully encourage people to consider becoming vegan, not only for their health but for the welfare of animals. I love to support and promote local vegan restaurants across Orlando through my account and because of Instagram have made many lifelong connections throughout the vegan community here and across the world, Go Vegan!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the past, there were always challenges finding vegan options in restaurants. However, the vegan community has grown so much over the past few years and now it’s very easy to find many restaurants that are either completely vegan or at least have plenty of vegan options on the menu. Now we just have to make sure all the restaurants step up!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I bartend part-time and work as a virtual lab instructor at a soccer academy. With @veganmomandsons, I’m also a small influencer and work with a few companies promoting their vegan products. I’m most proud of the people that have been with me since the beginning and continue to support my account.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m a huge horror fan. Also, I’m addicted to Oreos. I usually have a pack in my freezer at all times.
