Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Carter III.
Hi Kenneth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kenneth Carter III, I am 39 years old. I am an ex-military truck driver with 2 children. I started my business on Jan 2020. My dream started with a very dark one. I was sent to prison after struggling with alcohol and drug abuse. At the time I did not realize it was a problem. It was socially “fun” and everyone was doing it around me. Once being sentenced to 3 years and facing 90 years, I felt like this was an opportunity to turn my life around. I mean, I wasn’t the type of person that should be sent to prison in my mind. In the beginning of my sentence, I just wanted to newest game and the best alcohol upon my release. Six months into my new life, I began to see a trend of men just waiting around to complete their sentences by playing card games, gambling, or hustling. I knew at that moment something had to change in my life or else I’d be another statistic of recidivism. Something clicked in my head; I’m grateful it did. The lack of potential and the environment that didn’t care if you succeeded or not showed me a person with grit, character of intelligence didn’t belong in a place like that. I first started to understand what my weaknesses were by doing a thorough self-check. I replayed the last ten years of life. Took an objective look and started to focus first on the people I hurt in my path, who sincerely cared about my well-being. I wrote a hard-to-swallow list of my discrepancies to work on one each week. Self-help books became my staple diet. Every day I worked on improving myself with self-guided studies and really became aware of my weaknesses. From there I started to think differently and started to plan the company that I knew I would have once released. This company would help me build a better future and help people that would have traveled the same disturbing path in life with the result of becoming successful business owners and freight agents. I was released on Oct 17, 2019, and started the company immediately after, Jan 01, 2020. It has been an exciting journey filled with accomplishments and equal disappointments. I honestly would not trade it for anything due to the learnings and experiences. I’m here today to show people that with determination, perseverance, and the right mindset anyone can start a business, despite the setbacks. My purpose is to fill lives with optimism and work to engender positive self-worth. I do that by showing up every day and pushing through the challenges. I also became a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach to provide health benefits to truck drivers while also replacing my drinking and drug use. As of now I am over 5 years sober with annual revenues over $250,000 in the second year and expected to reach $500,000 this year.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe it has been a mixture of learning experiences guised as challenges. It is all based on your perspective of life. I have conducted business with a client who did not pay me over $3,000 in my first month of business which required me to work a job and pay off my company’s debt. When starting a logistics business, you have no credit to get trucks booked so I paid in advance my first year which put a strain on capital and required me to take on side jobs to keep the company afloat.
We’ve been impressed with Ameriton Freight and Logistics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I flew down from Toronto for a business trip back in June. During my stay I got to spend some in-person time with Mr. Kenneth Carter III. What a great guy filled with so much positivity and greatness. If there is anyone who knows how to improvise, adapt, and overcome its Kenneth. This is definitely someone who you want moving your freight and handling projects.
