Meet Keon Holloway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keon Holloway.

Keon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Keon Holloway. I am 23 years old, from St. Louis, MO, but relocated to Orlando, FL, five years ago. My whole life, I grew up singing in church. I have two amazing parents who are pastors of a great church in St. Louis (Solomon’s Temple Church), and they believe in me so much and have always pushed me for greatness with love and support.

The interesting thing about my story is I was adopted at three months old, 1 out of 9 children! The funny part about it all, or shall I say the God part about it all, is that I’m not the youngest or oldest of my siblings but yet the only one who was adopted. My biological mother, who passed when I was 6, knew it was something different about this child that she could not take care of me, but God connected me to this amazing family (The Holloways), and my life hasn’t been the same since!

I owe everything I am to God & my amazing parents! I always sang at their church growing up and knew I wanted to be a part of a group, so I formed a group called “Called to Worship,” which consisted of about 13 young people who just loved to sing like me. We got a few calls to sing at other churches, but mainly we sang at our church.

As time and talents progressed, I decided to revise the group and change the name, “Voices of Praise” consist of me and two other very close friends of mine who I felt understood the vision I saw for the group and, with full force, took the vision and ran with it! Over the years, we traveled and sang in many places, and it was all I could’ve ever hoped for. As we got older and our lives progressed, I started taking on more solo engagements.

My mother always would say Keon keep a CD in your pocket and song in your heart no matter what you have to gift to carry it. I didn’t fully believe it but I knew it was something different about m.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to travel the world and sing and even have been on some very major platforms with some amazing artists opening for them or doing background vocals. I have been able to release 2 gospel singles in 2018 “Tell the world” and “Freedom which have really touched people all over the world.

In 2021, I released my first inspirational single titled “Long Way” which is a song telling people to learn to be ok with taking their own path I believe that every moment of my journey prepared me for the next and I’m still to this day pressing for greater!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but every risk has always been worth it with God!

I think with doing anything these days comparison can be a big thing, especially in music because so many people are doing it and there will always be somebody who can do it better than you. Still, I’ve learned to be confident in myself that THE GIFT GOD HAS GIVEN ME IS ENOUGH!

When you walk in that freedom, no one can shake you! I often tell people, “I just want to be the dopest me I can be.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Artist who does gospel /inspirational music. I travel and sing at all kinds of events and services. I am most proud of my going back to school (college) to get my bachelor of Science in Music Business.

I believe what sets me apart is my confidence and my fear/love of God. It always keeps me humble but it always makes me go harder for him.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
It is so important to take risks, but you always have to use wisdom and follow God! He will always lead you in the right direction even if you don’t agree!

One risk I had to take was moving to Orlando. I was only 18 years old, moving 14 hours away from my family to a city where I knew nobody, but it was the best decision I could’ve ever made. I originally had a purpose of moving here for school, but God had a greater sense, and every day it unfolds in my connections, opportunities, and knowledge I gain daily! Another risk I took musically was trying a new genre.

People always know me as a young upcoming gospel artist, but I wanted to show them and myself I was more than that; I could do more, and I must say I’m more encouraged to stretch out musically in my style because of that risk! TAKE THE RISK, FAMILY.
