Today we’d like to introduce you to Keturah Corneille.
Hi Keturah, I am so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
In 2019, right before the start of the pandemic, I was looking to add a side hustle to my income. I stumbled upon CPR training since my endgame is to have an established CNA Program in the community since this is how I started in the healthcare field. One of my mentors, Victoria Randle, MSN, NP-C, suggested I start by becoming a CPR Instructor. I took the course locally in Tampa, FL, and then the pandemic hit. I was afraid of holding classes because of the rate of infection. Still, my services were needed in my community since many hospitals were inundated with COVID-19 cases and could not hold any CPR courses in-house. Today, I am still teaching CPR courses to my healthcare providers. I have since moved out of the area I was in, Davenport, FL. So, I need to rebuild my clientele again. My goal is to continue to expand to offer more services, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support, IV Certification Training, NCLEX Review, and more.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The healthcare market is very competitive; nurse entrepreneurs often need to find a unique value proposition to stand out and attract clients. I continue to overcome this challenge by leading with integrity and giving a good value for my services. My passion is teaching others and being a mentor and role model for other nurses in the field. The definition of success to me comes from a combination of clinical expertise, business acumen, and being dedicated to what you love to do.

Keturah Corneille, the founder of Corneille Medical Training & Consulting LLC, is a highly qualified Registered Nurse with an extensive 15-year career spanning various healthcare specialties. Her nursing journey commenced in 2008 at the University of Central Florida, and she has since earned her Master’s in Nursing Education. Her diverse nursing experience encompasses these specialties – Medical-Surgical, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, Public/Community Health, Primary Care, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Case Management, Nursing Education, and Virtual Nursing. In 2019, Nurse Ketu®️realized her dream of becoming a Nurse Entrepreneur and established Corneille Medical Training & Consulting LLC, where she serves as the primary owner and Lead Instructor. This training center offers CPR and Safety Training mainly to healthcare providers, offering Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support courses. She plans to expand to provide other healthcare training services. She is available in the Central Florida area of Leesburg and surrounding cities such as Tavares, Mount Dora, Clermont, Groveland, Minneola, Fruitland Park, The Villages, and Orlando.

My mentors include Victoria Randle, MSN, NP-C, the owner of The Secret Cocktail®️; she helps business owners such as myself create approved healthcare vocational schools nationwide. My next mentor is Vikki Buggs, MPH, RN, BSN, who specifically assists CPR Instructors in diversifying their CPR Training Center. Then there is Tamisha Derks, RN, often called my “Business Bestie.” We met through Vikki Buggs and offer similar services in our respective communities. She has listened to me vent any concerns I may have had or pushed me to continue. I also credit my parents, family, and friends for having faith in me and being my cheerleaders as I embarked upon a new role in nursing entrepreneurship. Lastly, I thank Jehovah, God. I have a strong relationship with my Heavenly Father and what he has done for me all these years.
