Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Titterington
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in Florida, I’ve always had a passion for wildlife and specifically reptiles, as they were always looked at as mean gross animals. I started providing educational programs for schools at the age of 14, which then developed into working at local zoos, and as a veterinary assistant. Then I started my own non-profit organization in 2009
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been met with many challenges. Most of it is financial or space related. Not everyone considers donating to reptile rehabilitation and rescue or sees the need in doing so. The biggest hurdle over the last 15 years has been obtaining property to further the growth of the organization and fulfill the needs.
The property values are very expensive and very few people think about donating the land to a reptile rescue.
We currently have a fundraiser to raise money to build a facility on our website.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and research collaborator. I specialize in reptiles and amphibians.
I am proud of the thousands of lives that have been saved, and the millions of people who have been educated through our organization with more to come!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
As a nonprofit, we can always use donations and support and that can be done so through our website or fundraisers on our social media platforms.
