Today we’d like to introduce you to Kindra Williams
Hi Kindra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kindra and I am the owner of Flamingo Floral Services. A home based florist located in Deltona, Florida. Specializing in customizable floral arrangements. I absolutely cannot stand your typical online flower ordering services so I wanted to be different. If you have an idea, or a vision I want to help bring that to life. Pictures for inspiration to recreate for you or just a color scheme and a price point, I’m your girl! I make unique gifts with outside of the box ideas as well. I offer subscription services biweekly or monthly. Everything is made to order with a 1-2 day turnaround. I do deliver for a fee throughout Central Florida. You can catch me at the local Farmer’s Market every weekend and specialty pop up events on occasion as well. Orders can be placed for pickup at my home, and any of my markets, or events. I also do flower bars or flower arranging classes for any event or occasion. The idea is to build the clientele in the community by showing face instead of just selling online. I love the up close and personal aspect to building this business from the ground up! Hoping to expand in the future with the dream of a full service flower farm/shop.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. This has been the most challenging thing I’ve ever done besides motherhood. But just like motherhood, it has been the most rewarding because it’s mine.
I’ve had to overcome all sorts of obstacles both physically and mentally. Physically, for example being a farmer’s market vendor battling Mother Nature. All of the seasons have had their ups and downs including my least favorite-windy season when my tent was launched in the air and my vases were shattered. But I overcame the hurdle, got a new tent, and my husband created a vase holding system to keep my vases from blowing over. Mental obstacles, overcoming post partum depression and having the courage to start this business in the first place! It has truly been a journey to getting my pink back just like the flamingo and the very reason behind the name. Pouring every single thing I have into this business all while trying to be a wife and mother has taken its fair toll and is not without lack of tears. (Usually in the shower) Every day I choose to keep going! I’ve wanted to quit, throw in the towel, completely give up but I keep going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
To put it simply I’m a florist. That doesn’t sound very exciting or extravagant. I’ll try again, I’m a floral designer, entrepreneur, business owner, self taught marketing person, delivery driver, salesperson, bucket scrubber, workspace cleaner, the list goes on. A one woman show for the time being! I’m so proud to be able to do what I love while being home with my 2 year old daughter. I’m not your average florist, I’m home based so everything I create is made to order to give you the freshest and most beautiful flowers. Blessed is an understatement with the unique opportunity to do this every day!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I absolutely consider myself a risk taker! I quit my 17 year career to be home with my daughter and start a business completely from scratch. I have no idea what I’m doing in motherhood or in business but I’m learning and growing every single day! My passion for my family and flowers is the driving force behind everything that I do. Thankful for my amazing husband who always supports my dreams and has helped me build my business every step of the way. I can’t do any of this without him and for that I’m grateful.
