Meet Kristen Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Johnson.

Hi Kristen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Starting out in weddings, I always enjoyed the celebration side of the events. I overly enjoy production/design and found my passion with using my hands creatively. From wedding designing, I found that making everything from party decorations to home DIY was where I belonged and created A Girl and Her Glitter. The girl is me, and the glitter are my God given abilities that I love to share with everyone. I believe that you can turn each ordinary day into something extraordinary. From life’s celebrations to celebrate where you live, I’m here for it all!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey as my own business being A Girl and Her Glitter has not always been an easy transition but definitely worth it. When you put your heart and creative soul into planning one-of-a-kind events and then can no longer be associated with those events/photos, it can be difficult to show your experience. Starting over meant a lot of unpaid and tireless hours making a brand/company. I’m finding it’s all worth it because it is truly all my own. Looking back, I can sincerely say that everything happens for a reason. You go through the good and the bad to learn and grow into the best that you are.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m all about creating to inspire others. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t using my hands and have fully embraced my God-given abilities. A Girl and Her Glitter is all about celebrations. Celebrating all the occasions with How-tos, creating a space you love in your home and making them come to life. As long as you are inspired to make it, I’ll be there! My specialty is paper flowers, giant paper flowers. This is actually how I transitioned out of the weddings and into AGAHG. You actually have the exclusive because we are producing large paper flower kits for all coming in fall 2021!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Orlando and the central Florida community for the diversity. You don’t have to go far to have all kinds of experiences and cultures. Both sets of my loving parents live within miles of where I live and are just the icing on the cake. Raising three littles with my husband, we call Central Florida home. The only thing that I can say that I don’t love about our city is definitely I-4 but I think that’s everyone’s take on it.
