Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Gandy.
Hi Kristin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a domestic violence survivor who lived in silence because I didn’t want to become a statistic. I was married with children, didn’t believe in divorce or want to be a single mother. For years, silence caused me to be weighed down with shame, embarrassment, and guilt. The abuse began to affect my self-worth, leaving me empty, weak, no self-love, peace, or freedom. I would often cry out to God for help and strength to do what I could not do. I told God if He rescued me from the situation, I would use my voice to save “her.” “Her” is any woman living in silence, carrying shame, and can’t see her way out. I have a passion for encouraging and uplifting survivors while spreading Domestic Violence awareness.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not been easy. I am a single mother to four girls and going through a divorce. I have my good days and my bad days, but with God, all things are possible. I hold on to my faith because when my strength fails me, I know God is before me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Out of my pain, God allowed me to birth Beauty from Ashes. I speak, write, and share my story without shame to inspire and encourage “a girl like me.” I am passionate about helping women in gaining self-worth, self-love, and knowing the depth of God’s love for her. I will support “her” on the journey of being whole and healed regardless of her past circumstances.
