Today we’d like to introduce you to Krizia Caceres
Hi Krizia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my professional dance journey at 18 as an Orlando Magic dancer, where I spent five incredible seasons. After that, I moved to Miami to pursue even bigger dreams. There, I had the opportunity to dance on various TV shows, music videos, award shows, and more—it was a truly thrilling experience.
After four years, my life took a new turn when I became pregnant. I faced a tough decision: should I step away from dancing for a stable 9-to-5 job, or find a way to continue living my dream as a dancer? I chose to keep dancing. While performing on stage wasn’t an option during pregnancy, I discovered a new passion—choreographing and working behind the scenes. It turned out to be a shift I truly loved, as I moved from being in front of the camera to directing from behind it.
Eventually, I returned to Orlando and began teaching at DGBEK Studios. Now, I’m a heels instructor, but my classes are about so much more than just dance. They’re about nourishing your soul and stepping into your power through movement. My doors are open to everyone—dancers of all levels, any gender, age, shape, or size. Come as you are, and let’s dance together!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way. As I mentioned, getting pregnant was a significant hurdle. At the time, I was about to start rehearsals for my third world tour with a reggaeton artist, so stepping away from such an incredible opportunity was incredibly tough.
After my pregnancy, I struggled with postpartum insecurities and felt like I had lost my “Krizia spark.” It was a difficult period, but after about a year, I slowly found my way back. Regaining that confidence and rediscovering my passion for dance was a journey in itself, but it taught me resilience and the importance of embracing every part of the process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a heels instructor, and my brand is called KZ Heels. The “K” stands for my name, and the “Z” is for my daughter, Zia. If it weren’t for her, I might never have started teaching. I offer classes every Tuesday and Thursday night. Tuesdays are dedicated to “Heels After Hours,” where the focus is on slow and sensual choreography. Thursdays, we turn up the energy with “Heels Fever,” featuring upbeat and dynamic routines.
What sets my classes apart is the intention behind them—they’re designed to help students gain confidence, feel empowered, and rediscover joy through dance. I take pride in creating a space where everyone feels welcome, no matter their dance experience or background. Seeing my students transform, not just in their dancing but in their sense of self, is what I’m most proud of.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself owning a dance studio that combines dance and fitness classes. I’m passionate about staying active, and maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle is important to me. My goal is to create a space that inspires people to move their bodies, whether through dance or fitness. I believe that the future of the industry is about blending different forms of movement to make wellness and self-expression accessible to everyone. This studio would be a place where people can come to feel empowered, confident, and connected to their bodies.
